Deals, deals, everywhere
rich-fouts16 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Jesse Armstrong's background in comedy comes to a head in this absolutely marvelous episode that takes place at a ski lodge called "Argestes." Nan Pierce is appalled at just about everything, which shows just how ballsy she is given her company has suffered eight, count 'em, eight successive quarterly losses. In my world, three quarters of loss gets you fired ... and finally Rhea gets the sack, though for her Logan infidelity.

The Roy children can't even get along when it's in their own interests. They insist on one upping each other wherever they are. I get the Tom/Greg thing but after a while, watching grown men act like 14-year-olds gets creepy (which is likely writer's intent).

Once again, Nicholas Britell's symphonic score is magnificent, ending the episode with the most wonderful brass point-counterpoint, rather fitting for the final blowup between Nan and Roy.

"Condemn and move on"

Several family complications in this episode while being very well written and nurturing! The business stuff is so damn good, I absolutely love the sayings and metaphors! So much filled into 1 hour and 3 minutes which is enriching. Very profound dialogue and well worth anyone's time.

Chickens Come Home to Roost

Warning: Spoilers
Argestes is another place where people feel it is important to meet. Nan wants to know a bit about the character of the family before she sanctions the deal. But the conflicts and evasions come forth when the business with the cruise ship from the deep dark past comes forth. Logan is getting more and more introspective and ultimately explosive. His children are all over the place and offer him little advice of value. They are more interested in their own skins but are cowards. They have never had to face life outside the silver spoon. The final scene is very intense. Logan goes off the rails after a comedian begins a roast.

She is by far my favorite. I know that's not helpful to understand the episode more, but she was amazing in this episode.

Terrific episode

The way tension builds from the beginning of this episode makes it a terrific episode. That end-credit score is wow. Kendall vs Shiv has been one of my favourite thing to watch so far in this season.

Another good episode that sets the second half of the season up rather nicely.

There truly hasn't been an 'average' or 'mediocre' episode of Succession since the first half of Season 1. Perhaps I needed more time to adjust to the show itself, to the characters and the narrative, but I truly believe that it has now hit the ground running.

Now, this wasn't the most extraordinary episode ever. There were a number of brilliant moments, found in the last 15-20 minutes of its runtime. Succession seems to be making a point of beginning an episode slowly, then building up to a dramatic conclusion. Whereas this felt like the beginning of the storm or a 'tempest in a teacup' as Logan called it, the storm is certainly coming.

Great performances as usual across the board, and an overall strong, developing episode that has set up the events that will inevitably follow rather nicely.

And that's a wrap. Show's gone off the rails!!
larosaj-2666616 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After Ken screamed at the spineless men in the plane my wife and I turned to each other and realized there was nothing much more for the show to offer than totally sick, amoral, depraved, despicable low life's that inhabit this show. After a great first season where at least some of the characters acted human; the show has descended into a bunch of characters showing the worst that humanity has to offer. There is not. One. Single. Character that has any redeeming values whatsoever. Total unmitigated trash!!!!

[7.5] Not always
cjonesas11 April 2022
Episode 6: Derailing a little (too much) in this episode with very long minutes of talking, some baseless business and personal accusations (on both sides), very good acting as always, though Logan is long out of control, irascible, suspicious and becoming a little more paranoiac by episode, also thinking that the world is turning around him and that he can (always) have it his way.

Well, not always.
