The movie Ann is about to show at the end of "Civil Warts" is a takeoff on 'My Dinner with Andre.'
The plot of "Hop-Popular" is highly reminiscent of an episode of another Disney series, 'Gravity Falls' in which the family elder runs for mayor against a charismatic but corrupt opponent (in both cases, voiced by Stephen Root).
The movie Ann shares with the village is a takeoff on 'Twilight' (albeit with a post-apocalyptic twist). The town dividing into factions over who should get the girl is based on real life 'Twilight' fans being "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob."
