4 minute commercial, 5 seconds funny
Echo9-7110 August 2021
This 4 minute short begins with 3 minutes of dull set-up, going where you ask? It's going to present a less-than-thinly veiled 60-second Audi car commercial.

And just when you think you have wasted four minutes, it uses the last 5 seconds to end with a cute little bit of funny stuff. I laughed. But I did not buy an Audi.

Warning: Spoilers
"Science Fair" is an American live action short film from 2019 that runs for sligthly over 3 minutes and is another one of these Audi comemrcials where the car manufacturing company cashes in on the Avengers success. There is one with Captain Marvel and several with Spider Man Peter Parker. This is one of them. There is a science fair at the local school and Parker and his chubby Asian buddy take part in it with a self-constructed motor. however, they quickly realize that this is not gonna win in the face of the strong competition, so Parker makes a quick call, a promise and gets a super modern car to present on location where he of course arrives in time when his buddy gets short of words finally. And then the action moves inside the car, but not before the buddy shortly says a few words on the motor. I wonder why though. It did not make any sense and the connection Parker makes in the car then won't make it any better, just more try-hard. A very strange script. I also thought that the idea of bringing such a car to a science fair is pretty ridiculous. Come on, they obviously did not construct it themselves, it just doesn't make any sense and the fact that they became second eventually only is a shot at comedy that is not working very well either. It just isn't funny. Also may have to do with me not liking Tim Holland as an actor, but this short film was a big mess really all in all. What's with the slightly derogatory talking to his buddy anyway. Oh yeah the wide/far thingey felt pretty try-hard too. I think you should skip the watch here. I thought this was a failure and it maybe the worst film I have ever seen linked to the Marvel universe. Void of all comedic talent honestly, the script I mean mostly, but also partially the line delivery. What a horrible way to go out. And I say this as somebody who loved Spider Man during the days of Maguire and also liked Garfield in it. And the recent animated movie. But this one here is just not working one bit.
