Really exciting and nice to see Ryan and Esposito. Made me think of Castle, gosh I miss that show.

Just Here for Chen and Bradford's Bet
SourCandyOrNoCandy18 March 2022
Not going to lie, the main storyline wasn't the most interesting to me. Nolan and Jessica work an undercover DHS case and West tries to catch a criminal after being teamed up with Smitty (a character I hope we see more of because I think he's great lol). Those cases didn't grab my attention, but Chen and Bradford's "case" had me hookedddd.

I didn't expect that storyline to go in the direction it did... but I don't... hate it? I really like Rachel's character. I wouldn't mind if she stays on as a recurring character, but if she doesn't, I wouldn't feel bad. I like that new "relationship" but it definitely doesn't top the chemistry that Chen and Bradford have.

Best part of the episode? Bradford and Chen. Am I tripping in thinking that this is the first time he's laughed with her? They're seeming more and more like equals as opposed to a rookie and training officer and I'm loving the dynamic. Hopefully something more can come out of that duo. ;) OHHH ALSO! I love the little Castle reunion! So unexpected but so, so good!

Worst part of the episode? Without Bishop, Nolan kinda feels like he's floating. It was nice seeing him work a case almost completely alone, but I miss the dynamic of him working with Bishop as a rookie. He seems like a "fully-formed" police in this episode which is nice, but a little jarring.

The Date
claudio_carvalho20 October 2021
While patrolling the streets of LA with Angela, Nolan sees a man running on the street and they chase him. When they look for the man, he falls off a bridge on the top of a parked car. They take him to the hospital and Angela leaves Nolan since she has a dinner party with Wesley's family. Soon Jessica comes and discloses that the man is an undercover agent that has been investigating mobsters for a long time. Nolan is assigned to take care of the man that is under the care of Dr. Grace Sawyer. Meanwhile Chen bets with Tim that she will arrange a perfect date for him, and she summons her friend Rachel to date him.

"The Bet" is a funny and tense episode of "The Rookie". The plot with the undercover security agent is tense and the relief is the part of Chen, Tim, and Rachel and the discovery of Angela, when she meets Wesley's family. My vote is eight.

Warning: Spoilers
So Grace knew John from College when all he wanted was a fake ID so he was less than 21, but left her a note 21 years ago when Sarah was pregnant. If the jokes about him being the 40 year old version were correct then I'd get it, but it's been mentioned several times he is mid forties? Can anyone clarify how old this dude is meant to be? Loving the show, missing bishop though.
