The Confidential Informants
claudio_carvalho20 October 2021
When Nolan is visited by his son Henry, he learns that he is engaged and meets his fiancée Abigail. He goes to his work worried about the situation of his son and Detective Nick Armstrong investigates the life of Abigail in the system and prints a copy to Nolan. Now he has a dilemma: shall he open the envelope with the information or not? Chen has the unexpected visit of her mother that intend to divorce her husband. Meanwhile Sgt. Grey assigns the rookies to achieve CI's of their own.

"Tough Love" is a nice episode of "The Rookie". The dilemma of Nolan is the most engaging and funny part of the show. Madeleine Coghlan is hilarious when she tells that she is pregnant. The chase of the rookies for CI's full of action and funny sequences. Chen's mother storyline is the weaker part of the show. My vote is eight.

Great episode

Really enjoyed this episode. The family drama in the Ep involving Nolan's son and Chen's mom was interesting.

Not the Most Interesting Cases, but Good
SourCandyOrNoCandy22 March 2022
Not going to lie, this is probably not going to be an episode I remember in a week. The most interesting case was Nolan and Harper's with the forger, but I'd forgotten about that by the end of the episode.

I really enjoyed seeing the scene where Chen and West interacted in their apartment. Ever since West moved in, I've been wanting to see how their home life would've been and that scene didn't disappoint. I also really enjoyed seeing the rookies take the lead on getting their confidential informants.

Best part of the episode? The Chen-West home dynamic. I knew it was going to be great. I watched those scenes so many times. Loved it.

Worst part of the episode? I never like when "innocent" people get into trouble with the law after someone does them wrong, so I didn't like Abigail or Olivia's stories. I like that they were in the episode, but I just don't like to see that happen.

Is it a new thing - add annoying useless character?

I know they have to be replaced Talia, but there are a lot of ways to do it. Impossible to watch, which is pity because now there isn't any good alternative in police drama genre.
