Peter receives a message from the Price of Taos, Ali Bin Shaw (Donald Buka) inviting the Lindseys to the Taos embassy. They arrive to feel out of place among a gathering of mostly regal Orientals. The prince greets them privately to express how they're his favorite performers. He gifts them with a song he's written called "The Temple Bells Are Calling Me Home" to sing on their upcoming television program. The slow melody is comically interrupted in the middle with an upbeat section. It is a song the couple rightly finds to be "no good" when the prince performs it for them. The prince wants to be better acquainted with them and plans to come to their home for dinner where Peter and Mary dread telling him that they can't use the song. Before he arrives a Mr. Hudson (King Calder) of the State Department comes to survey the home and surrounding neighborhood for security reasons. He further states the importance of the visit as it helps establishing relations with the Asiatic country. When they discuss the song Mr. Hudson stresses singing the song on TV. However, Peter says to Mary, "I'd rather be vetoed by the UN than get a bad review in Variety." They tell the prince who admires them to be the first to ever criticize him. He then tries the rest of his equally bad songs. But an unexpected melody leads them in an unanticipated direction.
