Last year, author/artist/screenwriter Stephen Romano unveiled Shock Festival, a lavish volume that homaged the B-movie genre via histories and a trove of artwork and photos of horror, action and sexploitation flicks…that never existed (order it here). Now, Romano is adapting the book into a multi-dvd edition for POPcinema, and we got the details from him and an exclusive first peek at the cover art, along with a promo poster.
“People got really excited about the fictional world of my book, because it reminded them of real movies they had forgotten about or wanted to revisit,” Romano tells Fango. “There are a lot of opportunities now for younger people to rediscover weirdo, nihilistic sci-fi films like Chosen Survivors or yucky, twisted 42nd Street shithouse classics like Slime City. It's been almost 30 years since the last wave of possessed vehicle movies (Christine, The Car, etc.) came and went, so we're about due for the next wave. Hot on the heels of the trailer for the new killer car flick Hybrid, comes Crawler, a tale of a killer bulldozer. Doesn't grab you yet? How about a killer bulldozer with tentacles? See the trailer along with a fairly kick-ass poster after the cut.
The low-budget indie was directed by Sv Bell (Rise Of The Ghosts, She-demons Of The Black Sun) from a script co-written by Robbie Ribspreader (Doomed To Consume).
Synopsis: A construction crew is trying to solve a mystery about their bulldozer, which appears to have a mind of its own - and an insatiable hate for the human race. They are soon to discover that the heavy machinery is in fact a shape-shifting lifeform that mimics and inherits the characteristics of its surroundings.
