Cinematographer Phil Gries, last graduating member (1966) of the CCNY FILM INSTITUTE is one of sixteen former students, including Alan Heim, Jonas Mekas, Lawrence Silk, and former director of CCNY FILM INSTITUTE, George Stoney, who are interviewed for this documentary by Dave Davidson which traces the twenty-five year history of the Institute of Film Technique at CCNY, founded in 1941 by Irving Jacoby. The Film Institute flourished for most of its lifespan under the inspired leadership of the Dadaist, radical thinker and pioneering experimental filmmaker, Hans Richter.
