Much better than expected
californiacountrychick6 December 2020
While typically I cannot watch a Carlos PenaVega movie (as nice as he is, his acting can be way over the top), this was much better from him. He often in my opinion has acted over the top, and in this movie it started out that way, but his cop character is actually a good fit for him and he settled down after the first couple of scenes. When he is being serious in a role he does a good job. I also can appreciate Alexa more here than in some of her other movies.

I don't know if this is the case, but it seems like they would bring their kid/teen Nickelodeon personas to their movies in the past. Maybe the challenge has been how to transition out of that. This movie however is more toned down for them and I was really able to enjoy it so much more.

A convoluted heist and a look into Sam's reluctance to move on.
cgvsluis26 January 2022
Allie, Noah, Maya, Sam and Nick are all back in the second episode in the Picture Perfect Mystery series. Mystery is afoot in Willow Haven.

Allie is photographing a gallery show, put on by Noah's mom, Camille. It was a who's who of the elite in town. During the art owner's speech, the lights go out and a very valuable diamond necklace is stolen. This could ruin Noah's mom's reputation...so he enlists Allie to help him find the necklace and figure out what happened.

"We're trying to catch a thief."-Allie

Uncle Luis, Sam's chess partner, has been called in from his island retirement to help with the renovation. Uncle Luis is played by none other that Chips star Erik Estrada.

A fair bit of comedy is added in to this episode, like with the three card Monty chase scene.

"Well, I married well and divorced better."-Mr. Baxter

Enter a pushy reporter for the Gazette named James...maybe a romantic rival for Sam?

"She has this infuriating habit of just showing up at crime scenes. It's like she can't just leave well enough alone. If I didn't know any better, I'd think she was actively seeking out trouble."-Sam

Allie and Sam go on their first coffee date...or do they?

"Luis! Get off that couch! Get out of the house!"-Luis (channeling his diseased wife)

The mystery was complex and well put together, the show is still being built and it is not up to par yet with my three Hallmark favorites...Hannah Swensen's Murder She Baked, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries and Mysteries 101...but I have hope for this sweet couple!

Jewel theft
bkoganbing17 February 2020
Husband and wife team of Carlos and Alexa Penavega star in another Hallmak mystery. She happens to be covering a gallery opening when a valuable necklace is stolen.

Mysterious millionaire Milo Shandel is having his collection of all kinds of art and other valuables exhibited at a gallery and with the theft he threatens wrack and ruin to the gallery owner.

It turns into a murder when later one of the rich guests is found murdered in his home. Still Carlos the cop and Alexa the photographer keep looking jointly and separately as it always is with Hallmark mysteries.

Erik Estrada is also in the cast as Carlos Penavega's uncle and a former cop. He really doesn't do much but be a kibitzer for his nephew.

As for the crooks it's a gang from all strata of society and they really are pros at their work.

This is one to check out.

I love this episode

It is full of mystery and suprise that are explained in the epidsode about a stolen diamond necklace. There are some nice actors in this one is Erik Estrada who played in a TV series . Allie is a pretty lady who is curious and gets involved with the stolen diamond necklace. What is surprising is that Allie the actress is married in real life to Carlos Penavega who is Sam and he is the star of this series and is a detective. Jesse Moss is in this and is another good actor who plays a cop in some of these mystery series. Good episode to watch

Dead over Diamonds
coltras3519 June 2023
Photographer Allie and Detective Sam's investigation into a priceless stolen necklace leads to danger and an unexpected death.

A simple plotted mystery featuring real-life married couple Carlos and Alexa who play a cop and photographer in a small town. Carlos is a new guy, a cop, from NYC trying to adjust to small town life, and obviously they have a "maybe or maybe not" romance. It's a u demanding yet safe mystery which is quite fun, especially with Alexa's sidekicks Noah, and Maya around. They make a great team. There's no murder, just a diamond theft. Erik Estrada from CHiPs fame stars as a lively character.

Disrespectful Hallmark
teebear81725 January 2021
Hallmaek....Stop posting those AGGRIVATING, IRRITATING AWFUL promos on the bottom of our screens throughout the movies!!! 20% of the screen is taken up with these 2 logos on every movie. Total disrespect to your viewers.

She's not bad but he's a disaster
LtlHippo24 May 2020
This is the worst of any Hallmark series. The wife isn't too bad but the husband can't act to save his life. Won't watch this series again.

A genuine mystery
ronbokirk17 February 2020
The real mystery here is not who killed who, or who stole what. The mystery is how anyone in their right mind would cast Carlos in a movie. He is absolutely void of talent.

Barely Watchable
johne-5595210 October 2020
These two really can't act and combined with weak scripts this series is one of the worst in the Hallmark Mystery collection. I just watched the preview for the next episode and even the preview is painful to watch. I don't think I have ever made it through more than 20 minutes of one of these before pulling the plug.

Hallmark has a couple new promising mystery series. Wish they would crank out a few more of those instead of wasting resources on guaranteed duds.

Woman leave's phone behind.....NOT
Tiny T10 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This contains some SPOILERS. This serie is probably shoot in favour of the couple who play the main characters. Just one in a row of many of this kind of crime solving duo's. To bad they had to go imaginary to get the plot strait. First of all, the girl normally investigates with somebody else, but on the most importent action, right after the detective warns her of the dangerous implications of the case due to people get killed and all, she decides to investigate all alone at night at the secluded harbor. And she places her phone without any reason on a ridge at her stakeout location, while she was wearing him in her pants pocket the whole episode. And why???? Because they need a reason for her to return to her location to blow her cover without the nosy reporter around. How farfetched can you get. It looks like science fiction, so unbelievable. Now I understand why the serie stopped after 3 episodes.

Only if you have absolutely nothing else to do and somebody is allready saving the environment, your excused to see this. Or if you got the hots for one of the main characters. Well, I've warned you.
