The corgi puppy is adorable but the "mom" is really hard to buy in this film.
cgvsluis24 December 2022
This is the story of a single mom, who doesn't really like Christmas anymore because that's the time of year when her husband died and she has to work for a promotion instead of spending time with her kid. She meets a single dad when she takes her kid to her parents house. Oh! And due to not communicating with her parents or her sister, her parents aren't there...they are out of town on vacation. She was counting on them watching her son while she worked. The single dad is crazy about Christmas and is a handy contractor!

The single dad is played by Kevin McGarry and he was wonderful...he and the kids...and the corgi puppy, really carried the movie instead of their star, Kelly Kruger, who was an unbelievable mother. I can't believe that he would fall in love with or choose to be with Kelly Kruger's character. My other real complaint is about the music...it was terrible. I don't say that lightly either.

This is another holiday movie where the spouse has been killed off. I'm not sure why, it's not very Christmas-y. I wish they would stop with the dead parents and divorcees in Holiday movies...it's depressing and I watch holiday movies to be up lifted.

The puppy is adorable and Kevin McGarry is really lovely...but they are the only real reasons to watch this holiday romance.

Time does only go one way.

How Does It Happen...

That I get sucked in to all the schmaltzy sap that are these standard predictable ridiculous holiday movies, short on romance and long on nothing else. And how come there is no affection or kissing or anything actually remotely romantic until the last scene? Just once I'd like to see a tongue jamming spit swapping kiss or two sweaty actors laying in each other's arms after a good romp. Instead we get a kiss that all to often looks painful, as if to say, God I hate this guy. Why did I ever take this part? Oh yeah. Because I'm not good enough to get a real role anywhere else. At least here they look like their mouth is open but no hint of a tongue anywhere. I swear the writers are just out of ideas so they stick to strict formula plots hoping it'll just work. It's like throwing something at a wall hoping it'll stick no matter how messy it is. With this one they mistakenly thought that throwing a puppy into the central theme mix would make it interesting. The acting is not the worst thing about this one and as far as I'm concerned the only thing redeemable about this movie is looking at Kevin and having a fantasy.

The title lies
boycey-207966 December 2020
I switched to this movie and it appears to have one Corgi who appears fairly irregularly.

Admittedly I have only watched half an hour of it but less than 3 minutes of Corgi.

For it to be a Very Corgi Christmas I'd expect at least 3 Corgis to be in screen for a minimum of 50% of the whole film.

Very disappointing.

This movie is good...community theatre good!
deanbean31718 December 2019
This story is, literally, painful to watch! Plenty of "smell the fart" acting, mixed with gobs of awkwardness and a heaping helping of truly horrible music makes the standard Hallmark schlock seem like The Godfather in comparison. This production has NO redeeming qualities. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Not a good dog or Christmas movie
phd_travel9 November 2019
Unlike recent dog movies this one isn't saved by cute dogs. The story of two single parents bonding is tedious and boring. She has to work and the spoilt kid can't understand how a single parent puts food on the table. The leads are okay to look at though there isn't much romance.

Family bonding film

My family had fun hating on this awful film one evening, and we're diehard corgi lovers.

Not Good
gregberne119 December 2019
This is not a good Christmas movie or a good dog movie. The scenes are awkward, boring and slow. The dog scenes are especially poorly done. The acting is not great but that could be due to the terrible script including some especially bad dialogue, even by dog-Christmas-movie standards. Hard pass.

Adorable puppy dogs and the kid is super cute too! The mom is a good mom. I liked it and thought it was unique for a christmas movie :)

Poor pooped out Puppy
khugh-287296 July 2023
I tried watching this as the premise sounded good - man hoping to surprise child with a puppy at Christmas and has potential love-interest look after the pup. It was just ok. I was more upset with how they were treating a live puppy actually, you could see in some scenes (just prior to the christmas bake scene) the poor pup was yawning and wanted to sleep - pretty sure it was missing its mum and/or litter mates. He then perks up when they finally give the little pup some food, poor thing wolfed it down. These observances tell me that A/ the film shooting was far too long for the pup - B/ the poor pooch was literally starved on set before they finally fed him in a few scenes - C/ nobody seemed concerned of the dog's welfare as they dragged it behind them on a leash while walking down the street. Honestly, I was very much alarmed watching this cute puppy being mishandled for the sake of a movie. Give this one a pass.

An insult
iranu-7419523 November 2020
Even giving these people some leeway on yet another Christams turkey film, this one is too poor to countenance. The sound is super bad, a 4 year old would do better. The techincal errors and cynical script is an insult to any audience. Have no idea where the Leading male came from - feasibly a care home. Very very bad, even when measured on the Cheap Christmas Movie Scale. This rubish was put together only 2 years ago!! They should be ashamed.

Worst movie I've EVER seen
jensenbucher26 December 2021
Not good at all. It's barely about corgis. It's confusing, doesn't make sense, the actors are not good, it was a big waste of time watching it. I should've looked at the other reviews before watching. I don't even know what else to say I'm just trying to fill up my 150 characters.

Not even very, very cute Kevin McGarry could save this one
sheldonlinda11 December 2019
Even very very cute Kevin McGarry from the later seasons of "Heartland" and the very cute dogs couldn't save "A Very Corgi Christmas." Also, I very obv. wasn't amused that the main girl's cute bubbly sister who could have saved the film for me was a c word. :((

Absolute Awfulness
robt-2705010 December 2023
These cranked out "Holiday" Movies are the dregs. This one is even worse than usual. To begin with, why can't the male lead shave? Looks like a bum in winter clothes. The Mother is an airhead. Hard to believe she has what is inferred to be such a wonderful job. At least some of it looks like Christmas season. All too often these lame presentations are filmed in summer and a few decorations and perhaps a pile of fake snow are supposed to make us believe it's winter. All around, a real poor effort at a movie. Avoid at all costs! The same goes for most other Dove and Hallmark productions. Just laughable, if the were not so nauseating.

Best corgi movie ever made. Very wholesome. Literally watched only for the corgi and it didn't disappoint.

Such a sweet movie and adorable dog!
faith-8705712 May 2021
I wasn't sure I wanted to watch this movie, mainly because the title didn't seem interesting. I love the lead actor, so I gave the movie a shot. He was great and the dog was absolutely adorable! I really did enjoy the story, but McGarry and the sweet puppy stole the show! This was a lot of fun to watch!

I. Am in tears.
Xx_CorgiL0v3r_xX3 June 2020
This is the best, if not the greatest, cinematic achievement of all time. A Very Corgi Christmas makes me want to sing from the rooftops. It is heartbreaking, bittersweet, and christmas. I loved when the corgi did the christmas, it put me in tears for two days in a row. If this was the only movie I could ever watch, I'd be in heaven.

A sweet and warm movie, thank God.
choryinhope2 January 2023
Just watched and then watching again now. A straightforward story related almost every kid wanted to have a puppy. I like straightforward story without too many conflicts among the characters and it has a happy-ending. There are much fun and beautiful kind people are all around. I like that Lauren went back to the city and back. Sometimes, we couldn't make a right choice in the first time. Many small good things scattered. For example, Lauren got the door key in the plants. The puppy acts just a puppy for real. There is not additives to the puppy. Most movie about puppy would contains many human things added to the puppy. The kids are just great and charming. A must watch.

A fun and lovely family Christmas movie 🎥 🍿
FranCineWatches10 December 2022
I just watched the Christmas film "A Very Corgi Christmas". In the meantime, it has also become a real tradition to watch this film in the coming days until Christmas, since it was released about 3 years ago. A cute corgi puppy, a young blossoming love, 2 loving parents trying to create the best for their children, a great and supportive sister/aunt and lots of Christmas joy and activities - what more do you need? Not much, especially when the lead actor Kevin McGarry appears in a Christmas jumper with a puppy in his arms and has an almost palpable chemistry with his colleague Kelly Kruger as soon as you see the two of them on screen together. This chemistry, mixed with a typical Hallmark Christmas movie script, makes for a great holiday film.

Cute corgi
SunnyDaise23 December 2021
Love the cute corgi and the intriguing situation when the lady goes home for Christmas, but otherwise there's nothing original about this movie. However it is a bit inspiring if you want to change your priorities / start over after bereavement.
