Forceful and tacky

I am still kind of struggling to understand the point of this episode. I mean, it did have a storyline, but man, I felt so bored all the time! It felt like watching a soap opera. I guess in the end we were all supposed to feel the 'aww' moment in realization that LGBT people have character and principles of morality too, but the only payoff I got was when the credits rolled, as the suffering was over at that point.

It just makes me wonder - how many seasons is it going to take for the series to hit the absolute rock bottom, and become just a series of some AI-generated plots that recycle everything that has happened before a bazillion times? How many seasons will it take for people to stop caring about the series and just let it gracefully rest in peace? And I'm asking these questions as a person who loved modern Simpsons and always defended them, but with each season after 29, it is becoming so much harder every single time.

Are you sick of this storyline yet?
onelasthe-1914410 November 2019
Once again, another storyline where Homer and Marge's marriage may be in trouble, but not really because we need to go to the status quo by the end of the episode.

I'm sick of seeing one of these episodes literally every season and each one is more repetitive and predictable than the last. We all know Homer and Marge aren't going to break up. Stop trying to make the audience think they are. It's getting boring and predictable at this point.

I'd be fine with it if the episode was actually funny, but the humour is just so flat and boring that it's just boring to sit through.

Rehashing older episode ideas
jakiemangood10 November 2019
Another moden Simpsons episode that just rehashes older concepts and labeling it as a new episode. I feel bad for the voice actors for being contracted to do this show for so many years. Marge's voice actress can't even do the voice anymore. Just end the show already.

No, Marge doesn't leave Homer

No, Marge doesn't leave Homer. Shocking I know. I thought for sure this time it was up for their relationship.

The other subplot is nothing special either.

Warning: Spoilers
Marge feels worthless. Has to rediscover her worth. Everything works out fine for her marriage in the end. Who saw that coming? Despite feeling tired of this particular storyline as of last season, this isn't a bad little episode. Not least because it's not down to Homer doing something bad for once. It doesn't quite hit the reset button. And nearly all the jokes land. Great fun with the sports commentator and the lack of interest people have in the sport in question. But whatever else, this episode gets eight out of ten alone for the Riverdale joke! It's brilliant!

Not worthy of being a Simpsons episode
manirlielsdaikts30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode wasn't interesting; the exposition wasn't funny at all and the scene with the YouTube video felt like a horrible attempt of the writers trying to appeal to the current generation of children and teens.

Lisa was acting uncharacteristically, she usually tries to show something meaningful in her school projects, but here she just insulted Marge with no other intent.

The main part was boring and uneventful. I feel like if the episode had a longer running time, the story could have developed better and been more interesting, but the plot was a spin-off of other episodes that challenge Homer's and Marge's marriage.

The ending was very shallow. The only thing that the viewer can get out of it is that queer people have a sense of morale, but the delivery of this point was lazy and felt more like an afterthought that would make the show go back to the status quo.

Overall, the only reason why I gave this episode two stars instead of one was the kind of funny scene with Nelson acting like Maggie that actually made me chuckle a bit.

Bad episode
maddoxacox11 November 2019
= GOOD QUALITIES =

*Couch gag was good *Grampa Simpson was funny as ever *Funny parodies

= BAD QUALITIES =

*Repetitive plot i've seen before *Everything Else

= THOUGHTS =

Not as bad as Bart vs Itchy & Scratchy, but still bad, i can expect the animation to be a bit subpar seeing that it's an HD show that's pumping out new episodes constantly, and i would say some of the jokes are good, but not really.

= Rating =

3.3/10 - Would rather chop off a tree towards my head than watch this again.

Huh? Marge isn't Boring, What are they trying to do?
celiawatsonanime21 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Cutting down logs competitively sounds like yard word chore simulator.

She's been on as many crazy fun adventures as Homer.

The irony in this is that this episode makes her look boring.

Hope she doesn't end up in something new boring.. like a mopping competition.

This wasn't funny and had a bad plot too.

The only points (stars) it gets is for being a unique plot and not a clip show.

One of the worst episodes they ever did
babymanperson14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This whole episode started because Lisa insulted Marge unprovoked. So much for being the kindheated voice of reason. Then Marge decided to be a lumberjack and she starts hanging out with another girl who is a lumber jack. Homer thinks that Marge will leave him for her. If the conflict is all in a characters head there is basically no conflict. And Its really disapointing that Homer can't be suportive of his own wife. Families are supposed to be suportive of each other. Marge alway does her best to suport Homer when he is not doing something stupid or illegal. Those moments are rare but they do exist. She was supportive in the beer baron episode. Its that lowsey episode where Marge becomes a police officer all over again. Marge became a cop and Homer was sexist and teased her the whole episode. Or the one where she was in the play and Homer was upset. Apparently Marge isn't allowed to have dreams or a life or that makes Homer upset. They should really retire that character triat and have Homer be supportive.

*sigh*

This is going to be a follow up to the review I posted of the episode Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie almost exactly 2 years ago, so bear with me.

I honestly feel as though if people are going to be praising The Owl House episode Knock Knock Knockin' On Hooty's Door, and the Adventure Time Distant Lands episode Obsidian, they should be praising this episode of The Simpsons as well. This episode had, essentially and fundamentally, the same great qualities those episodes of The Owl House and Distant Lands have. I am very disappointed this episode has a pretty low overall star rating with many people giving it 1 star. This is not a 1 star episode, it should be more like 10 stars like I'm rating here, for the reasons I just mentioned above. I'm actually quite impressed about the direction this show took with this episode, it's quite bold. Would definitely love to see more of it!

What exactly were the writers trying to get across?
nathanjhunt111 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Ironic how the whole first act was about Marge realising people think she's boring. Well damn right, I was falling asleep in my chair at this frustratingly boring storyline.

All the characters in this episode were annoyingly insecure. Homer thinks a woman is falling in love with Marge, despite there being absolutely zero evidence of this. Because a woman is gay, she is supposed to lust after every other woman?? What an outdated and disgusting view point. LGBT people have morals as well, you know!

This episode felt so hollow and pointless, and you reach the end of it feeling nothing but relief that it is finally over.

A few other points to note, which made me hate the episode even more:

I said it before, but i'll say it again. Kevin Michael Richardson has an incredibly annoying voice, and his characters infuriate me.

The song playing over the lumberjill montage and over the credits is so annoying!

Maybe I was missing something, but I didn't "get" any of the Portland jokes. Maybe they just weren't funny at all, and there was nothing to "get".

Over all, a particularly bad episode, even by season 31 standards.

Boring episode... Marge is better than this.
Deadprix27 July 2022
This episode was Marge dealing with the fact she might be boring and the writers made this!?

I mean... add jokes next time... please? Awful episode, insulting LGBTQ representation and I think it's just bland.

Marge the Lumberjill. Ruined the entire episode when they .....SPOILERS
DaytonaBob22 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love the Simpsons and can say I have watched every episode including when it was just little episodes on whaterhernams show.

THIS is Just a quick review. I liked where the show was going and thought it was funny with Marge partnering with an obviously gay lumberjill to do something that was not boring and make her feel like she had a life other than just being a housewife and mother (They revisit this theme a lot) and then they freaking RUINED IT. The girls, Marge and her friend are enjoying a campside fire after working out to get ready for a lumberjack competition.

Two squirrels are enjoying the fire with Marge and her friend and next scene shows them having killed the two squirrels and put their bodies on spits and roasting them. WHAT THE H**L?

WHAT JERK thought that was hilarious? I stopped watching after that. I don't give a darn that it is a cartoon, it was tasteless and gross and completely something MARGE WOULD NEVER DO.

RUINED what looked to be a great episode. Don't care how it turned out. Yes that sort of thing bothers me in shows. I hate it when Family Guy is always killing dogs as though we are supposed to think dogs being shot, run over, killed in various ways is just kneeslapping hilarious. Seth must really hate dogs. He did it with JURASSIC BARK as well.

I don't care if it is cartoons or live action TV there is NO Reason to kill pets for entertainment. Or any animal for entertainment. So go ahead and make fun of me for being upset over this but I don't think killing animals for a terrible cheap laugh is anything but really bad taste and we are talking about the Simpsons here.

I hope they do not stoop this low again.
