Rookie Magic helps the Lakers beat Dr. J and the 76ers in 6 for the NBA Championship.

"The 1980 NBA Finals" which was televised on "CBS" featured a championship series between the eastern conference champs the Philadelphia 76ers and the western conference champs the Los Angeles Lakers. Rookie Magic Johnson had taken the league by storm as the Lakers run and gun style had worked all year, as the gritty 76ers had played great D with Dawkins and Dr. J had played at an MVP level all season the series went back and fourth with exciting games and was deadlocked at 2-2. When the series twisted and turned in game 5 with Lakers leader and center Kareem having an all world game he would badly hurt his ankle only to finish the game and help the Lakers win. Now for a game 6 storybook and underdog feel Kareem out injured had the Lakers to put their trust in rookie Magic as Johnson himself had to step up and play center. The Magic man delivered a workman like and MVP performance as the Lakers won the series 4-2 and bought another NBA title back to L. A. Overall good memorable NBA Finals series.
