Along with promotion material presented at the premiere of "Jungfrukällan" Ingmar Bergman published a short text named, "Pages from an non-existent diary". A text dealing with the preparation and creation of the film.
"Jungfrukällan"s depictions of violence became the subject of an intense media debate. The film censors was criticized for releasing the film without any cuts at all. And one person reported the film to JO, the Justice Ombudsman.
