Dick Clark opens this episode on the sidewalk outside the theater, revealing the neighborhood with it's major Broadway theaters, plus Sardi's restaurant next door. Johnny Olenn and the Blockbusters perform their original record of "For the First Time", for which their manager, Buck Ram, had written the English lyrics. The song went on to become a huge hit for Mario Lanza, and the inspiration for his final movie of the same name. Finally, a young as yet unknown actor who was appearing in a theater nearby was interviewed by Dick as part of the intro to the next song. His name was William Shatner. Also worth noting is the fact that The Platters introduced their biggest hit ever on this show.
