Best show of the year

A fitting and beautiful end to the brilliant first season that wraps things up and leaves us wanting more.

I loved this episode so much as we saw Jack and Ace discover their relationship even more. Wild Bill was his classic self and Crystal is one of my favorite characters.

A well written and executed episode that is at the highest level.

Waiting for season two.

To the Heels team, you guys have no idea how well written and joyful your show is, keep doing it the right way and your show will be a big success for many seasons. And that by starting promoting the first season more and more so you can get more viewers. I freaking love you guys. Thank you and keep it up !

Outstanding!

This was a fantastic season finale and leaves plenty of threads to follow in season 2. (Please let there be a season two!) Chris Bauer as Buffalo Bill has been fantastic and put the show over the top. I'll stop now so I don't drop any spoilers.

SPOILERS AHEAD - Great ending!

Warning: Spoilers
Solid episode throughout its runtime. I must admit however that I have been patiently waiting for some in-ring action, and this episode delivers.

The Wild Bill sub plot cracked me up & I did not expect him to alter the match, but more on that later.

Since the end of last episode I didn't want Gully to retaliate, just take the L & call it a day but it was fun to see the bros tackle their way outside of the arena. Gully's presence in the fair felt rushed and unnecessary, though it was hard to avoid given Jack's involvement in the latter's show. Turns out it also had an impact on the ending as they started to rile up the crowd to and get them cheer for Jack as some kind of a highjack tactic. It sure got in Ace's head, who despite his efforts to turn face, fails. It should also be noted that Gully also handed some kleenex to the crowd to screw up Ace's turn.

Jack on the other hand comes home to empty beds, while Staci stayed over a friend's house with their son ahead of her Rodeo National Anthem performance. Alison Luff is a great singer, so the singing part was definitely a joy to watch. Her acting was on point too during her talk with Jack, which definitely reinforces the idea that the couple are indeed going through a rough patch. Jack is often alone & sad about the whole situation with Staci, but also because he tries to tell his brother about the kleenex from the first match, which keeps being interrupted (until the match). Anyways, the arc is good. The ending, which I was very skeptical about, sunk in as time went by. I am curious to see what they do in the next season with Ace & Jack. Jack could well be on his way to becoming a face. Ace is certainly going to continue being a heel, especially after he legit attacked his brother in the ring in front of 10 000 people. I am especially curious to see what they do with Crystal, who is now the DWL champion as she stepped in for Wild Bill who pooped his pants (yeah seriously).

S1.E8 - What An Amazing Episode To End An Amazing Season [10/10]
panagiotis199328 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E8) My Live Reaction / Review for Heels Season 1 Episode 8 ''Double Turn''. Episode 7 was good and I gave it a rating of 9.6/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Jack humiliated Gully, now I wanna see what will be Gully's response. So does that mean that Ace wont work for Gully? I guess no. Ace wants to be a better person, let's see if he is able to. Jack's marriage is falling apart, but it feels that's been happening since the first episode. It sucks that Ace's mom doesn't wanna support him. Jack has been so obsessed with the DWL that he destroys his marriage, he needs to change things if he wants to save this marriage. Oh boy Jack's speech made me emotional, great speech. Oh boy they are fighting for real? Damn. Crystal got the belt? That's insane, i didnt expect that! What an amazing episode! Overall this episode was great, my rating is 10/10.

Wrestlelamia
Gatorman069 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Decent last episode. Great drama and acting with the brothers, Bill was great as always and had a hilarious moment. But, as a wrestling fan, the ending of that main event match was just stupid and ruined it. Crystal was destined to have her big moment eventually, but having her interject herself in the match at the end and winning the mens championship belt was ridiculous, even for a staged wrestling match. It was obviously meant to pander and make for a wonderful empowerment moment, but there were better ways to build up the female wrestler than having her take the spotlight from the wrestlers who were actually in the match. Making her a bigger deal or even on the same level as Jack, Ace and Bill is laughable. That's modern day TV for you though.

Are these 10* reviews paid? Awful ending

Warning: Spoilers
Big build up to the ladder match. Back and forth drama in the bout, then the valet climbs the ladder and wins the title??? It was a 3-Way, not a 4-way?

Heels was well produced, directed and full of veteran actors, all of whom did a great job. But it was the writing that ultimately flawed this series, let alone the finale episode.

The industry (Wrestling) podcasts , tv shows and social media sites did not cover Heels for the above reasons. Unfortunately, this series will hurt any future Pro-Wrestling themed TV shows looking to tap into the sports entertainment/drama genre.
