Poorly shot but a fantastic set
MassDistraction16 March 2014
Originally included with copies of the Werewolves & Lollipops album and contains footage of a set leading up to the WW&L album taping, including alternate material and alternate versions of Lollipop jokes. Terribly shot but probably his strongest set available on video, although not as polished or well executed as the album version. The jokes include pointed political commentary, personal insights on growing up in a small town and, later, working in the entertainment industry and good old-fashioned dick jokes. It should also be noted that, looking back at this some years later, it's nice watching Patton with some fire in him as there's no question age has dimmed that spark a bit. Definitely a landmark work in the alternative comedy movement. Track this down if you're a fan of alt comedy or just bored of mainstream comics.

"I'm gonna fill your hoo haw with goof juice!"

This feels more like a film starring only Patton Oswalt, than a stand up comedy special. The small club atmosphere provided by the 40 Watt Club, which accurately describes the lighting, makes it seem so much more organic than a large venue. The creative intro devised by Patton Oswalt and Henry Owings also add to the unique feel of this stand up special, making it appear to be in Pattons private performance chamber. If you've never heard Patton Oswalt before you are in for a real treat. This was my first exposure to this comedic being and certainly not my last. I found this for rent on Netflix, however this video was an accompaniment of his CD. (If you read this Patton, you should hook up a copy of your work ;)

Quote something from this daily

Thanks to this album, Patton Oswalt lives in my head. "Sterling Virginia!" "You like ice cream kid?" "KFC failure pile!" "Death bed, the bed that eats people!" My wife and I have been quoting from this for 16 years now. God I love this man.
