Julia's New Life
solojere10 March 2024
After turning in her father's laptop, Julia is haunted by the fact that she has more half-siblings than she could've ever imagined. To make matters worse, her father's clinic tries to push her out of business to distance themselves from the Bechley name. At the same time, Roxy embraces her life by spending quality time with her newfound biological father, Leon, while Edie struggles to come to terms with her sexuality. Overall, this was another great episode. Brittany Snow does an amazing job illustrating the emotional roller coaster that Julia goes through over the course of the episode. She also does a great job balancing the seriousness of her situation while providing the show with some much-needed levity and humor. Also, as someone who has had issues with a parent and setting personal boundaries, I really related to what Juilia was going through and how difficult it can be for people on the outside to see how a parent's behavior is toxic. With that said, Timothy Hutton did a great job as Leon Bechley. He is so toxic, yet, at the same time, he feels like a real person and is not too over-the-top or cartoony. My only complaint with the episode was Julia's dream at the start was a little over the top. However, it was short, and the rest was great. I definitely miss this show and would recommend it to anyone. It is worth watching for Brittany's performance alone. It is among her best works for sure, along with Pitch Perfect, X and Red, White, and Blue.
