In this premiere episode, we learn a bit of the back story of the Burke and Walsh Circus. Big Tim Champion (actor Robert Lowery) arrives as the new owner of the circus. It is revealed that the parents of circus boy Corky (actor Micky Dolenz), the Flying Falcons, had been killed in a circus accident and their only child, Corky, had been unofficially adopted by the performers, especially Joey the Clown (actor Noah Berry Jr.). Joey had been a teacher before joining the circus 15 years earlier and thus was qualified to instruct Corky on the normal subjects taught at school. We also learn that Big Tim Champion manages a clean operation and abides no shenanigans as he fires a crooked pea-in-the-pod hawker.
"MIckey Braddock" was the name Micky Dolenz used as a child actor, so his work would not be confused with that of his father, George Michael Dolenz.
