A Perfect Ending
aidanb-791113 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like around 95% of the stories set up in this season were wrapped up here, I always had faith in Steven Knight. He always finds a way. But wow, That was the first time I ever cried at the show, that picnic scene really got me. I wonder what will happen to Finn though, He needs Tommy to knock some sense into him. The cinematography was beautiful again, Tom Hardy is always a joy to watch, and RIP Michael. I always hoped he could have redeemed himself, but he was coming against a man with "no limitations". I hope Arthur didn't kill himself, however I think he will be in the film so we'll see. Possibly the best way to set up a film, hats off to everyone that contributed to the film... and take a bow Cillian Murphy. Killing it as always. Now go watch the finale if you haven't already. By order of the Peaky Blinders.

Can't wait for the movie!
ssvfolder-14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Epic finale. To be honest this season was the weakest of them all, yet the last episode certaily delivered according to the high expectations and not a dud similar to the last season of Game of Thrones.

From this point on, I'll dive into some theories, so spoilers.

Throughout the series, Tommy was never too quick to judge harshly family members. They all got one chance after another. I believe that Mosley's plan to lead Tommy on with a '"tumor news", actually gave Tommy that same edge to kill Michael and exile Finn. Without it you can't ever know what would have happen. That being said, Michael was one sided character in that last season and his blind hatred was the result of his wife's (the true divider) "support".

It also felt that Arthur was severely underused in the last season and I personally would have love to see him some more.

As the series progresses, I believe it safe to assume that we'll see the final confrontation between Tommy and Mosley/US faschists leading to WW2 and subsequently Tommy's death and redemption. The new character Duke will take over Tommy's empire from below, while Ada will rule the legitimate busineses. Artur will survive and will remain married or alternatively will meet the death by the hands of Finn.

Those are only my assumptions, but in any case, The movie can't come soon enough!

Game of Thrones & Dexter New Blood
danielcereto4 April 2022
The season overall is the weakest by far, but the last episode is a great example of how you can end a masterpiece series excellently.

Writers from series like Dexter New Blood or Game of Thrones should learn from here. Great and unpredictable ending for one of the best shows ever. Long life to the F___ ng Peaky Blinders.

Steven Knight brought us a brilliant series finale that surely kept me on the edge of my seat, it'll be remembered for years
Holt3444 April 2022
Steven Knight might have created the best series finale in the history of television with this episode, but then again it isn't end to the Peaky Blinders Saga as a movie is coming along with spin-off shows. But for an ending to a acclaimed TV Series, "Lock and Key" was perfect and was 80 minutes of pure brilliance. I never intended to write this review but after watching the episode, experiencing some of the history's best storytelling done by the brilliant Steven Knight, I just had to express my love for the episode, for the art he along with everyone who worked on the production did. It's rare to find shows with these endings, Breaking Bad comes to mind in how epic it was and is. The series finale was emotional, full of tension and suspension, but most importantly unpredictability. It's quite often with shows how you're able to predict how the story will progress, even how events will occur, that have never been the case with this show. Steven Knight took us for one extremely memorable ride and I can't wait to see how it will continue, hopefully, in the theatre.

As the clouds of the coming storm gather, Tommy Shelby faces the consequences of his experiences and his actions.

The finale was directed by Anthony Byrne and well he directed the hell out of this episode, superb work done by him and all the crew behind him. The cinematography was stunning, brilliant and overall incredible. Peaky Blinders throughout the years, since its first season, have always strived for stunning cinematography and it kept that until the final shot. This episode even pays homage to the first ever shot and scene in the show, with both have Tommy Shelby as the only character on screen and riding a horse. The first ever shot Tommy rides a black horse whilst it's a white horse in the last shot, in my opinion, that's symbolism in how Tommy Shelby have changed. I also want to praise the actors and their performances, superb is how to describe the acting in this episode and the entire show. Cillian Murphy was terrific and deserves multiple awards for this performance, being a producer for this season was right. Brilliant performance for a well written and well thought out character.

A Masterpiece

A slow-burning series, culminating in the perfect ending to an amazing show. From the first episode to the last, Peaky Blinders has always delivered.

Steven Knight and all the amazing cast... take a bow.

Superb ending to one of the best TV series
roeelo27 June 2022
It is hard to end a series properly. Many have failed before. Not this one. The last episode was brilliant, well performed, and with a great combination of closures but with place for some more if the producers will want to (planned movie?).

Well done.

Wonderful ending for a loved series
bouldasgiorgos4 April 2022
What a great finale. Although I love the series, I've felt like Season 6 just wasn't doing it for me. I really thought this episode was gonna be a mess, trying to conclude everything going on. While it didn't conclude everything, it was very-very well planned and executed with a small addition to the runtime. Acting, direction and photography were top notch and so was the sound editing. I was on the edge of my seat 2 or 3 times. A very fitting ending to a more 'mature' Peaky Blinders. Their rest is yet to come, though.

Mixed Feelings
SHU_Movies3 April 2022
It was a quite emotional episode that had me constantly on the edge of my seat and almost in tears at one point, but it really didn't feel like the last ever episode of the show. There's definitely going to be that movie, but as the final episode of the show, it was a bit of a letdown honestly! This episode, and the sixth series as a whole has felt less like a conclusion of this chapter and more of a set-up for the film... Which I once again have mixed feelings for.

Warning: Spoilers
This got to be one of THE best endings I have ever seen. It was so unexpected. Nothing about this ending was predictable, I was sat on the edge of my seat the entire time. I thought this was gonna be Tommy's downfall but god was I wrong. I expected him to die in this episode by Michael or disease. I am happy I was wrong and extremely happy that Michael is finally dead plus that finn is gone now. Duke looks like hes gonna be a very interesting character in the movie.

Bizarre
alkhawammarie3 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The final deal has been done, and it's massively disappointing. Firstly, the death of Michael Gray has to be one of the most underwhelming and poorly written deaths of any character in a television show. They'd been hyping him up to be the big bad guy for two seasons now and he's killed off pretty much instantly, I have no idea why he was in prison for 90% of this season instead of making moves against Tommy, and it was so predictable that Tommy put the bomb in the other car. The final conversation they had was actually somewhat decent, but it all happened way too fast, I have no idea what the writers were thinking.

Secondly, they absolutely botched Billy Grade's death, we don't even know how the Peaky Blinders figured out that he was a rat and why they didn't even tell Finn, but for some reason they let Duke (a character that was introduced two episodes ago) in on it. What?!?!?!?

The big gunfight between Arthur Shelby and Captain Swing was very well made, it was great to see Uncle Charlie and Jeremiah in action, however there was a severe lack of tension in it. They wasted Captain Swing as a character, they could've done so much more with her but they introduced too many other villains and then chose to do nothing with them. Her death was underwhelming too.

Why wasn't Jack Nelson in this episode?? They had been making such a big deal out of him all season and last episode his plans were starting to fall into place, and then they don't even include him in the finale. What?!?!?!?!?!?

Why did Ada play such a small role in this episode? She's been a main character since the first season and she's done absolutely nothing this whole season, the entire Shelby family has been so disconnected that the tone for this season has been so off and so distant from what this show has been about. We didn't even get to see Haydn Stagg in this episode either, what a waste of Stephen Graham's talent.

In the end it turns out Tommy was never sick and it was just a ploy by Oswald Mosley. It just makes the rest of this season feel pointless, like the writers needed an excuse for Tommy to get rid of the opposition. I have no idea why they left everything to be solved in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, they definitely had no idea what to do with this season.

Overall this was such a disappointing ending to a disappointing final season, I really feel like this show should've ended with season four. At least then it would've gone out on a high note. I'm at a loss for words...

Pulling at stray threads
bluehoodie-191946 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Best part of this episode was the twist in the last 10 minutes of the episode, did not see that coming.

The last two season though felt really disjointed however, and characters come and go without having much input on anything that's happening.

Michael was in prison for essentially the whole season, Gina was hooking up with Mosley why was there no "hey Michael your wife is betraying you and your new uncle is going to kill you, why not hop back on the side of the family? We're also avenging your mum who died through not much fault of mine. Nah, randomly shot after being outsmarted on some Canadian island where he was also last outsmarted by Tommy Shelby... Really?

Mobster that's been built up the whole season is not even present, a shootout that happens outside of The Garrison (why did they go outside toward the sniper? There has been plenty of death and violence in the pub before - lazy writing)

Tommy has sex with Mosely's wife... For what? He didn't gain anything out of it? To build houses on land that he owns a large mansion on already? Doesn't make sense.

The twist was good but then how are the seizures and blackouts explained if there is no medical reason for them?

Very strange writing compared to the early seasons, there is almost no tension as everything is explained very plainly to the viewer, can't help feeling it's been dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience due to the fame it gained over the years. Show, don't tell is a basic screenwriting rule that seems to have been largely ignored the last few seasons.

Lots of random characters added that don't really do much and have very little consequence (the bookie informant- don't even remember his name - Gina, Mosley, his wife, uncle Jack - what exactly did they do this season? Also the Scottish bad guys from last season have disappeared with no resolution?

Overall very strange - writing issues? Producer meddling? Who knows. A shaky end with lots of loose narrative threads that ended up being just a bunch of loose ends.

They will not rest yet
jamienopt4 April 2022
We expected a dark ending to a light season but they gave us a light ending to a dark season. It's a beautiful ending but a movie to tie up the loose ends would be the cherry on top of a cake. If there were a movie I'd hope it would show the downfall of Mosley and Jack whilst also giving closure for our main characters such as Arthur and Tommy.

The best of the worst
AleksandrBelenko4 April 2022
This season got progressively worse. But the finale is decent. It is not grandiose but still good. It may be leading to the movie, probably where he defeats British fascists, but this episode is still good.

I would like it to be better, to be 10/10 But it is not as bad as some say.

Warning: Spoilers
10/10 any day idc what anyone says duke Shelby was great and I hope he has some good screen time in the movie, seeing Arthur Charlie and Jeremiah battle the Irish like that was epic and also having Jonny dogs being the one that saved Tommy for me was exactly what I wanted. I can't lie I didn't see that end twist coming and I'm so relieved now 😂😂 bring on the film.

My only complaint is finns role in the episode didn't make sense to me and I'm disappointed in him dumb ediat.

The beginnings of new ends.
brooksrob14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It was a top tier series...I just finished watching the last episode and, until Tommy had his daughter vision; I thought he was "checking out'"... I loved that Alfie was in the finale and the new kid, Duke, is a comer...

The planned movie will hopefully be as good as the series...There's a lot of directions they can go with this; Heck, we have the entire WW2 to draw stories from...

Tommy's mention of the "Eleventh Hour" when he lets off the doctor is a profound story...WW1 ended at EXACTLY 11:11 on November 11... The Wizards number 11...

Over ?
eoinpgeary3 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So before I start, I really enjoyed the episode as a whole, some very questionable moments for sure but I did enjoy it.

Arthur, great scene in the street, really really enjoyed it, he still feels a bit like a lose end though through this whole season

Duke kicking fin from the family, not a fan of that

Tommy switching the bags was GREAT, what a tense scene I thought he would walk in the bar but just as good with Johnny Dogs, delighted Michael was killed too he needed to go and so does Gina

The twist at the end was great, the last 40 minutes is where the episode shines in my opinion, the start is a bit mucky and all over the place but it really finds its footing, if it was 50 min I think it would be a 10 star

Overall the end doesn't feel like the end of a season, of a series. I know there's a movie but still it wrapped nothing up it's a huge cliffhanger!! I will be watching the movie !

Wow
ryanmcferran3 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Was it the best season? The most "Peaky Blinders" that we have come to associate with the brothers Shelby? No. Do I care in the slightest after this perfect, cathartic finale? Also no. We have been historically spoiled by outrageous cinematography, exceptional soundtrack and biting dialogue and thankfully they all dovetailed here.

It's so hard to get an ending befitting of such a modern classic- just ask GOT, Sopranos or even Line of Duty (if it's over) But Tommy having his cake and eating it, before riding off on a white horse comes pretty damn close. Is he riding away from "hell", his previous life burning which enables him to be a one man mission to defeat fascism? Possibly. What I do know is I feel just that little bit more secure, knowing he is still rattling around. Goodbye Tommy. In the bleak midwinter....

Nearly perfect ending to an amazing series.
capnpopetastic-7051518 June 2022
I'm always incredibly nervous going into the finale of a series that I love. So many times over the years, I've been slapped in the face by awful or lackluster endings. Peaky Blinders delivered gloriously. My only complaint is that Red Right Hand wasn't in the episode. They should have played it as the final scene rolled. That would have been the absolute cherry on top. But I can't complain. Brilliant writing, acting, story, set pieces, costuming-everything about Peaky Blinders was done right.

I thought the ending was great!
jordison-2365214 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the ending was great! At the end of the series he kind of "dies", in addition to losing everything (john, ruby, polly, michael...) he has drifted away from the family, acting purely out of his greed for power. His caravan is burned by the doctor's butler (representing the gypsy's death).

Tommy's first scene is him looking for a horse healer and he always said that the spirits don't let him die (because every time he tried to kill himself, he saw a sign or something happened to "interrupt" the plans) so for me it made sense to show him immersed in superstition. Still, I think this arc was to show how Tommy doesn't know how to deal with the lack of being able to have control over everything. He can control people, he can take their lives but he couldn't avoid any of the losses he loved: wife, daughter and aunt. For me Tom's BIGGEST ENEMY was DEATH. I thought they could explore this better.

I found it emblematic that he starts in the dirt of the streets, riding a black horse, and ends in green pastures on top of a white horse. When the bell rings he says he has found peace. Could it be that "after the gypsy death" he found a paradise on earth? Would Tommy be a free spirit now?

Even knowing that there will be a movie to tie up some loose ends, I expected more from Michael as an antagonist. I believe that by the death of Helen McCrory, they had to change this fight by interfering in the plot of both.

I also thought that Lizzie deserved a more dignified ending for all the support she gave Tommy behind the scenes, even though I knew his great love had always been Grace.

Anyway, expectations for the film that will take a while to close these ends! = ((

Still, I think they could finish with another season, I don't know if a movie will be able to address the unfinished business with the Americans, the Billy boys and the Nazis.

Game of Thrones syndrome
dprater20011 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Just too many plotlines to tie up in a well made fashion to ultimately get crammed into the finale. Also wasted the first half of the season on Ruby and for what? To setup Tom's disease plotline?

Micheal for all the foreshadowing they gave him was pretty much wrapped up in one scene. He never seemed like any sort of threat. Otherwise he was nonexistent this entire season that they could've handled that in the first episode. Gina seemed to be a bigger threat to Tommy than Micheal.

The IRA as well was finished very quickly for "how powerful an enemy they are". Again, never seemed like a threat.

What happened to Nelson? He wants Tommy and Arthur dead but then....? And again, not a threat.

Billy was never explained. How'd they find out? Was Finn in on it? Now he's gone and Duke is now near the top?

This random new kid shows up and is now a Shelby? Just like that? In one scene killing a man made him want to leave then 2 scenes later he's basically running the operation?? That doesn't track.

Liz and charlie made sense. But Ada does not. Very little presence this season in general.

What happened to Churchill in all this?

They need a season 7 for this but I guess we're getting a movie instead. So it what it is.

Also, I couldn't stand the music this season. It never seemed to match the mood of the scene it was literally drowning out. Had to turn the volume down during a scene that I felt like should have some emotion behind it. Instead get a very unappealing audio covering the entire scene.

Season 6 sucked
standbykid1 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This season was boring, all over the place and really left no closure. The last episode had no flow and was disjointed at best. Too many loose ends and the anti-climatic ending was reminiscent of how they rushed through the finale of Game of Thrones. I'm disappointed that an incredible series ended in lackluster mediocrity. That being said, Cillian Murphy nails the character of Thomas Shelby throughout the series.
