Violence & Gore

  • A man gets his neck hacked at by a machete and is seen for a couple of seconds
  • Strong bloody battle violence.
  • Realistic war violence throughout (with some blood) with the use of various firearms.
  • A man who thinks he survived is captured by Talibans.
  • A character is seen removing bullet shards from his leg with a blunt blade. Very prolonged and hard to watch.
  • Some soldiers are shot in the head with sniper rifles. Very bloody aftermath.
  • Taliban soldiers are shot with graphic results.
  • A character sacrifices himself trying to make a rescue call with a sat phone on a boulder. He gets shot many times and dies. Blood sprays like Kool Aid dust.
  • There are two separate scenes where characters jump down a hill to avoid bullets. The fall is graphic and they all break many body parts.
  • An offscreen beheading (blood splatter can be seen) and an attempted one.
  • A character falls/rolls down a hill and hits a tree. The character gets shot in the leg, then crawls to a tree. He finds a pistol killing an enemy with it, then attracting other enemies. He kills most of them, but eventually runs out of ammo. Knowing he would die, he just sits there and waits. The enemies shoot him in the head killing him. Very prolonged. Blood sprays.
  • A character loses his pinky and his ring finger and the bloody stumps are shown. Graphic but brief.

  • 161 uses of "fuck" including 10 uses of "motherfucker", 13 uses of "shit", 2 uses of "cock", 1 use of "balls", 2 uses of "damn", 2 uses of "hell", 1 use of "bastard", 1 use of "bitch", 3 uses of "God damn", 2 uses of "piss"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Smoking: None
  • Drugs: None
  • While the 4 men are waiting on the mountain one of them seems to have chewing tobacco, he doesn't use it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The credits scene is very likely to make even hardened viewers cry. Just knowing that the people in the movie are real and sacrificed their lives.
  • This movie is non-stop action and violence from 45 minutes in until the end, with emotional deaths and frightening situations
  • The falls down the hills alone are enough to make this film extremely disturbing..
  • At the end of the movie they show the pictures of the real soldiers that died in Operation Red Wing.
  • All of the battle scenes are very intense.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • There are kisses between Matthew Alexon and his wife at their wedding at the end of the movie

Violence & Gore

  • Murphy, Dietz and Axelson are all shot during the movie. Murphy is shot three times in the back with graphic blood splattering, Dietz is shot by the Taliban target, and Axelson is shot at twice before getting hit in the head. Blood splatters on the back of the tree he is sitting up against.
  • The scene when Marcus removes bullets from his leg is very graphic and you can see his bone sticking out as he cries in pain.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This is an emotional movie to watch because it tells a story about four courageous Navy Seals who go on a daring mission and only one of them survives. The other Seals get killed in an extremely brutal fashion and it is very sad to see them die because of how heroic they were.
