- Is it divine intervention/Godwink, coincidences or a meddling mom, when Alice, managing the family clothing store, and Jack, medical sales, keep bumping into each other before Christmas?
- Multiple coincidences and a chance meeting bring Alice and Jack, two strangers from very different family backgrounds, together for a weekend wedding celebration. Encouraged by her family, led by mom Olga, Alice slowly lets go of her reservations about meeting someone new following a failed long-distance relationship. Meanwhile, more and more Godwinks - those coincidences that aren't really coincidences at all - bring Alice and Jack closer as each attempts to balance the newfound attraction with their complicated professional lives.—Hallmark
- It's the Christmas season. Olga, the matriarch of the very large extended Marina family in Minneapolis, believes in Godwinks: what seem like mere coincidences really divine intervention of the cosmos. She believes it is Godwinks at work in bringing together her daughter, Alice Marina, with Jack Toda, despite the two of them feeling they not being in a position for a relationship at this time. A few years ago, Alice, as the heir apparent among her siblings and cousins, took over running the family's clothing store which was founded by her now deceased father and her Uncle Charlie Marina when they emigrated from Italy forty years ago, Charlie's daughter-in-law, Sally Ann Marina, who has provided invaluable assistance at the store for the last year when she felt she could take time away from being the stay-at-home mom. With the storefront next to theirs being for lease, Alice, as manager, has to lead the family proposal to expand the business, and convince the development company that they are the best option, especially versus a chain operation which would forever change the nature of this business district solely filled with independent stores. Like Alice, Jack is second generation, he of Lebanese descent. Unlike Alice, he comes from a small family, only he and his Uncle Nabeh Toda left with Jack's parents having passed in an accident a few years ago, and his brother from a health issue when they were teens. Jack, who works for a medical supply company, moved from Minneapolis to Dublin, Wisconsin when his parents passed to settle their estate, and although he would like to move back to Minneapolis, which he would be able to do if he gets the promotion for which he is in line, he doesn't want to leave Nabeh all alone in Dublin. Despite Alice and Jack's immediate connection, Alice feels the need to focus on the business, despite it never having been her dream, and Jack is uncertain of his future with regard to work. What ends up being a bigger obstacle for Alice is some unexpected news she receives, this news which is a large enough issue for her, it which she may feel not prepared even to tell Jack in not wanting to burden him with it and with her.—Huggo
