This is one of my favorite pilot episodes/arcs as well as episodes for the show. This to me is one of those pilot episodes/arcs done right as here they not just set things up but immediately get down to business, where most pilot episodes have this need to explain away everything and everyone, there's nothing wrong with that as most pilot episodes do that but sometimes that takes too long and can get in the way of story.
Here we see one of the Inhumanoids rise in his glory, and that one is Tendril who is cool looking as he looks like another of the creatures from the graphic comic series "Swamp Thing" but also the tentacle monsters from the H. P. Lovecraft stories. Here we just see him wreak havoc for havoc's sake as he's just destroying building and everything in his way.
But this havoc caused Decompose to be set free from its amber prison, though he doesn't get to do any damage but that will be saved for part 2.
And of course, we got a little sample of the Earth Core and their personas, the one that stands out for me is Auger whom is true to his name as he's sort of like Raphael from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" as he's got an anger streak a mile wide and is the most aggressive, there's a funny moment where Auger shows Bright some sort of schematics but Bright disguards it or just doesn't pay attention and just tells him to file it, Auger then just tears it, it just shows this guy is not built to be a file clerk, yeah neither am I.
This aggression of course helps in getting the job done as he confronts Tendril. We get a sample of the exosuits in action like Auger who has some sort of heated laser drill that just tore a chunk off Tendril.
We then see each of the Earth Core members go on separate missions to get answers. Liquidator he goes to the forest where he meets up with the Tree People. Really like the designs which are both cool and maybe a little scary, the tree people are sort of like the Ents from "The Lord of the Rings".
They help in outlying the Inhumanoids plot and the entire show as well, really like the concept on both the good and the bad monsters. The bad monsters the Inhumanoids are ones of darkness as their goal and function is destruction and tyranny. The good monsters their ones based on the elements of the Earth and its functions from the tree monsters to the ones made of rock, they defend the Earth from everything that is unnatural a sick mockery to nature and everything good.
The war with the Inhumanoids has just begun.
Rating: 3 and a half stars.
