The episode's title A Serpent's Tooth comes from 'King Lear', Act I, Scene 4: "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child".
Plot is loosely based on King Lear:
Mr Raja= King Lear, the ageing and easily fooled father (Raja means king in Hindi).
Poonam= Cordelia, the wise, faithful but estranged daughter.
Parthi & Pia= Regan & Goneril, the scheming daughters.
Faithful Haroon's death= faithful Gloucester's blinding on the instruction of Regan.
Fierce competition between companies= warring between Lear's nobles.
"'Though she be but little she is fierce ..." comes from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', Act III Scene 2.
When Sebastian and Poonam get out of the car, he cries "On y va", an informal French expression which can be translated as "Let's go!" or "We're going!"
"If money go before, all ways do lie open ..." comes from 'The Merry Wives of Windsor', Act II Scene 2.
