Cutting it, with some style.

This was a fine episode, the action begins with a fire at a salon, we have sabotage, a hair styling competition, and a death. It was a fine mystery, which was well paced, neatly crafted, a fine mix of drama and fun. Frank and Lu observe much of the action first hand. It starts well and has a dramatic ending.

Some very familiar faces guest started here, Sally Lindsay and Don Gilet, Jacqueline Boatswain who played Odette was great.

It's shaping up to be the best series for the duo.

A case of blow dry as rival hairdressers raise their shears and go to war.

Luella goes back to her roots as she and Frank are hired to investigate a fire at a salon. Odette is convinced that her former friend turned rival Isobel has been deliberately sabotaging her business. All this is happening as a prestigious competition is about to take place.

It is good to see Luella in her former life, seeing former friends and colleagues. Frank is nonplussed and you just know Sebastian has got himself a bad cut.

A dramatic set up in an episode where the cast largely play it broad.

I like Shakespeare and Hathaway, especially the rapport between the detective duo. Here Lu goes back to original occupation to investigate dastardly deeds in the cut-throat world of hairdressing. Amber Agar as DI Marlowe is sorely missed, having departed at the end of season 3. Tomos Eames stepped up as her replacement, but the writers have made him too one dimensional, scowling at Hathaway at every single moment.
