Karla Geißler is not only a woman with a quick mouth and her heart in the right place, she is also the soul of the household thanks to her practical skills. All the 'troubled and burdened' people in the house come to her to unload their problems or make use of her practical services. Aunt Karla is particularly fond of her nephew Karl. He visits her every Wednesday to do some geological research in peace and quiet. But while her aunt is out and about during this time, her flat becomes a love haven for Karl and his Uschi. Eventually, Aunt Karla realizes what is going on and, resolute as she is, she puts her money where her mouth is: when the young people get married, she leaves the flat to them and moves into the garden shed. Karl, overjoyed, has no idea at this point that from now on the other tenants will be at his door with their worries and wishes and that he is in for a tough test when Uschi's brigade turns up.—MDR
