a fairly good episode
Sleepin_Dragon8 August 2015
Episode 3 was such a high point, the forth offering was a little bit average, the team investigate the death of a worker at a Nuclear Research Centre, and the bizarre way in which the corpse was hastily removed. We meet a bunch of feminists and see more of Alex's parents. The best scene being Ray and Chris following Alex and Hunt, very funny. That apart it's missing some of the vibrancy of the last few episodes. Interesting scenes though when Alex visits her childhood home, sees her childhood possessions, knew the toilet leaked etc, very clever. Montserrat Lombard could have stood in for Cadfael with that haircut. The feminists are somewhat reminiscent of the French Resistance in Allo allo. The vault scenes were good fun, overall pretty good.

Series settling in

At last it is starting to feel like a series in its own right with Sam Tyler seeming to be a thing of the past. Fewer songs than before but you can't beat a bit of Shaky to make you feel upbeat. Keeley's white boots and the vault scene steal the show.

Into the vault

Slowly but surely 'Ashes to Ashes' is starting to feel less like a spin-off of 'Life on Mars' and more of a show in its own right, which is what every spin-off aims for.

This is another good episode, with some nice moments. It's got quite a complex plot which you have to keep up with, but it's held together by a great performance from Keeley Hawes, and I don't understand the negative comments about her in this role at the time because she's great.

I enjoyed this episode.
