The dog who followed his master was called Hachiko, and he would meet his master, Professor (Doctor) Eisaburo Ueno, at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing in Tokyo. When the Tokyo University Professor died in 1925, Hachicko would still wait at the train station for nine more years till he died in March 1934. The story was dramatized in the film Hachi-ko (1987), and it was followed by an American adaptation, Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009), starring Richard Gere, and Joan Allen.
