One Time Watch. Nothing new to the table

I usually admire Farhan Akhtar movies as there is some unique element or freshness in terms on content presented in the movie. But here, it's just a simple boxing movie which we've seen before in other flicks. Acting is good on all parts. Great dedication from Farhan Akhtar. Mrunal Thakur is cute.
Less sports and more romance

If they advertised this as romance genre, may be they might have get more positive reviews...this is more of romance and less sports.
If you exclude the exercising scenes, we can count the sports scenes... The biggest problem in this sports movie is that villain... they didnt explain anything about villain other than ring commentaries...The villains are introduced at the ring only and their story ends in ring itself... I really enjoyed the first half of the movie... after marriage, the movie goes into run of the mill story and nothing special...

This movie remains entertaining throughout mainly due to the strong performances of its stellar cast n its top notch direction.

Aktar is convincing as the rugged henchman turned into a boxer.
His moves in the ring are genuine and he never fails to impress with his physical transformation.
His talent as a subtle actor makes the already dramatic movie yet more realistic n he naturally blends the violent goon turned into a civilized boxer who is madly in love with his wife.
This may be a movie about boxing but I was mostly in awe by the potrayal of the prejudices n biases against a particular community, most filmmakers n actors lacks the courage to show the harsh realities plaguing the diverse n amazing India.
The movie has fascinating economic and cultural underpinnings.
Director Rakesh Mehra continues to blow us away with his direction. The guy knows how to reinvent genres and do things in new and interesting ways.
One repeated effect that I really enjoyed was the way the director handled the boxing choreography.
Most of the reviewers who gave negative ratings n reviews are the fascist bigots who all are jealous.
I am 101 percent sure that the fascist bigots who gave negative reviews and ratings are jealous cos they don't have good physiques, they have short and flaccid assets.

After watching it's trailer I was excited to watch this movie as I love to watch sports based movies and series like bhag milkha bhag expectations are very high but it's nothing more than a B grade typical Bollywood movie. This 2 hours 45 minutes movie is all about justifying inter religion marriages which we already seen in so many Bollywood movies.
Very bad Experience

Formulaic yet Hard-hitting.. Farhan 💥

Toofan is conventional and adds very little to the genre yet this glorified underdog story has the spirit which is unwavering. Thanks to Rakeysh's competent direction, Farhan's resolute and hard-hitting performance, Shankar Ehsaan Loy's soul-stirring music, and substantial support from Mrunal and Paresh Rawal, this film elevates beyond its stereotypes of cliched sports drama. Sad we couldn't watch this emotional rollercoaster in the cinemas.

Boring

Movie is too long, unnecessary things added to the movie. It lost its charm with time. Movie is slow and boring. Farhan was not the good choice for Azzu bhai. Rest all was copied from Rocky movie. However NAKAL KE LIYE BHI AKAL CHAIYE, overall flop movie.. watch sultan, dangal or bhai milkha instead of this.
Strong acting and motivation

Aak thoooo..... Movie.
I can't believe that film #Toofan is 100% same whatever I was expecting and said in my trailer review. 2 hours have gone and final training has just started. Means director is having full planning to torture for one more hour.

Excellent. ROM did it again

Wonderful work of cinema. Rakesh omprakash Mehra did it again, very balanced story, not Bollywood karanjohar type drama. Farhan has done wonderful work. Story is gripping specially 2nd half is total paisa wasool.
We can experience the same Aura of Bhag milkha bhaag and RDB in this movie too.
Overall if you are looking to watch some really good movie this weekend and this is the best pick of the month no doubt.
You won't regret.

7th Flop Movie by Nepo-Kid Farhan
wchristina-7805116 July 2021
Rubbish movie and this is Farhan's 7th Flop Movie, he is an ok actor and his voice should be dubbed. Farhan should now do movies with his league of actors- Himesh Jurum, I mean Arjun kapoor, Nunu Bachchan- Abisheik Bachan and all other flop nepo-kids and then watch their own movies with their own families. I only watch thirty minutes and then stopped this torture. PLz save your time and do some thing else.
Solid Boxing Drama Which Hits The Right Punch With A Knock-Out Performances
ketgup8316 July 2021
Sports is crucial as it inspires and motivates to make your life better. After the huge success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Farhan Akhtar collaborates with Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra once again for a boxing drama, Toofan, which also stars Paresh Rawal, Mrunal Thakur and Hussain Dalal in key roles.
Toofan is the coming-of-age boxing drama which tells the story of Aziz Ali (Toofan) aka Ajju Bhai (played by Farhan Akhtar), a small time goon whose life changes as Ananya Prabhu (played by Mrunal Thakur) enters his world. Thus begins the journey of Toofan from the street of Dongri to the boxing championship which is like a roller-coaster rides going through various ups and down both on and off the ring.
From the director of thrilling AKS, rebellious Rang De Basanti and inspiring biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag , Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra goes to the ground level and gives you the making of a champion. The film begins well in the present scenario showing Toofan preparing for the biggest fight of his life. The boxing-drama goes back into the flashback mode showing Aziz Ali's transformation from a trouble-maker youth to a professional boxing state level champion. Chance to meet his girlfriend changes him completely and he joins the boxing club under Coach Nana Prabhu (played by Paresh Rawal) for good where his boxing skills are recognized and from this point, the movie begins to roll out. The first half does have the typical Bollywood romance coupled with song-dance routine and light humor to keep you enlightened. The first half is fine but it is the second half which is pretty solid and the climax is highly effective.
Couple of scenes will steal the thunder - Farhan Akhtar winning his first state level championship, the training session where Farhan Akhtar practices to make a comeback with the Toofan title track will rock your body (thanks to Shankar-Eshaan-Loy) and finally the beautifully shot climax scene. On the flip side, the screenplay does loses the steam due to the inclusion of songs. The editing could have been better and the film definitely could go a long way to be trimmed by at least 15-20 mins. Though the songs are tuneful to ears, the boxing drama could definitely be more impacting barring few songs in the reel. Nevertheless, the screenplay is pretty tight and succeeds to keep you at bay. Background score deserves special mention. Cinematography is good. Boxing fight stunts are well-executed. I loved the rap song "Todun Taak" and the tuneful "Jo Tum Aa Gaye Ho" while others were ordinary.
Toofan is uplifted thanks to wonderful performances by the entire star cast. Farhan Akhtar gives his best as he has trained hard to get into the shape and appreciable sculpted physique clearly reflects in the movie. He emotes so appropriately that it is difficult to think of any other actor in this role. Paresh Rawal lends in good support.
Special mention for Mrunal Thakur who has certainly evolved as an actress. The gorgeous actress hits it right with her expression and portrays beautifully on screen. I also liked the performance of Hussain Dalal who brings in light moments to the intense drama. Surpiya Pathak and Vijay Raaz had miniscule role to play.
Overall , Toofan does comes in the right time when the world needs to step up and fight back, never losing the hope of giving up. Good 3/5.

One time watch, better than no brainers that have been coming out of Bollywood

Pros : Farhan Akhthar's sincere performance, Paresh Rawal and Vijay Raaz's scenes.
Cons : Length of the movie, unnecessary songs, trying hard to give a message when it wasn't necessary.
Crisper editing and focused story would have helped.

Farhan was poor in acting and deliverance
daddicool2216 July 2021
Another poor performance by the actor. Throughout the movie, he was clueless and his expressions were more that of desperation. The direction was average and it seems the director tried everything to make the actor do some acting.
Complete waste of time and money, instead he should've invested in bitcoins.
