Great first episode
raj-bhullar10 June 2022
I'm a big fan of big bang theory. So I thought I'll give this a try. I got sucked in right away. The plot is interesting, storytelling is good and funny at times. It's also a thriller. A thrilling comedy show is a rare breed these days. Also I love the pacing of this show. It's not slow at all. The plot moves forward fast and keeps you engaged and hooked. Usually tv series feels stretched out but not here. I have watched four episodes so far and the pacing has been great. Might be the best pacing in the show I have seen in a while. You won't get bored for a single moment. Cuoco is excellent and so is the supporting cast. I'm glad I chose this show to watch. This is great tv.

A comedy-thriller. Not many of those around.

It's a solid first episode, even if the overall tone somewhat escapes me. We don't see many comedy-thrillers, but this has that slant to it. Kaley Cuoco plays a hot mess well. I was reminded of The Hangover movies, albeit with a more sinister edge. I liked the 70's paranoia thriller type score and the glossy photography. I'll watch another.

Fine opening for Cuoco - shedding the stigma of Penny
bosporan5 April 2022
Strong start laying good groundwork giving us the frame of the story and an outline of the characters and their relationships. The writing is fabulous, employing a difficult blend of tension and dark comedy to deliver all of this naturally without a hint of gratuitous exposition. Metaphor is well used to push this along, the forgotten first guy in bed foreshadows the second, the Crime and Punishment book and the out-of-body scene echoing Cassie's predicament.

The Flight Attendant is a vehicle to give Kaley Cuoco a chance to shed the shadow of TBBT and shine in her own right. Sure, she is a fun-time slightly dipsy blonde, but that is where the similarity ends. Cassie is portrayed with a range of believable emotions through gesture and expression. An impressive first episode, we now need to see how Ani fits in.

Amazing plot
shahe-512-45833026 November 2020
I read the novel by Chris Bohjalian last year and I was hoping it to be written for a motion picture. It is a TV series now:) The first episode started fine, however I was skeptical of Kaley Cucco's playing for Cassandra Bowden but it turned out she is amazing! I just hope they don't change more things as the story in the book was set in Dubai, unlike the series which is set in Bangkok! Anyway, too early to judge.

Damn Cuoco...
courtneyjjjjjjjj28 November 2020
Kaley Cuoco's performance in this pilot episode is ASTONISHING. Raw, honest, f-d up and wonderfully human. She's seriously good in this.

The cinematography is gorgeous and using the "floating boxes" approach to showing multiple different aspects of the story (similar to the grossly underrated tv series "Burn Notice") definitely works.

The only negative here is the rest of the supporting cast is so blah. Fortunately Kaley carries all of them effortlessly.

In Case of Emergency

Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) is a flight attendant behaving badly. Disorganised, drunk and sex mad.

A flight to Thailand, a fling with a wealthy passenger Alex Sokolov and the party girl wakes up next morning with Alex dead. He has been murdered.

Instead of calling the police. Cassie thinks of the fate of an American abroad accused of murder. She cleans up the crime scene and desperately tries to recollect what happened the previous evening.

The first episode tried too hard to be a kookie crime thriller. There was some nice location shooting in Thailand.

There were surreal bits as Cassie talks to the dead Alex which was the more interesting part of th episode.

Cassie though is too much of a plane wreck to make me think she is somehow going to get to the bottom of this mystery.

Warning: Spoilers
Kaley was so fantastic! I actually felt the anxiety she was portraying. I'm loving this show so far, and can't wait to find out what really happened to Alex.

Fast moving for sure

Warning: Spoilers
I haven't read the book and I haven't seen The Big Bang Theory, and in fact this is the first time I've seen Kaley Cuoco on screen. This opener to The Flight Attendant doesn't let you go, with its multiple screens and crackling lines that goes beneath the apparently glamerous world of flight attendants. We don't don't see the pilots, but maybe in future episodes. The scenery in Thailand is impressive for sure.

Intriguing And Funny
Littleman9528 November 2020
Plot: since its based on an existing book is quite an assurance (well, most of the time) that it will be well developed. I liked the way it's exposed, piece after piece.

Actress & Acting: up to now I can practically talk only about the main character (Kaley Cuoco) since the others are not so much shown up. I know her from The Big Bang Theory and I thought she was perfect for that role. For a silly and funny role. And for this I was a little reluctant about seeing her doing a serious show. But then, after the beginning where I kept seeing Penny, I was captured, stunned about her expressiveness, about her skills and talent in acting. Well, she has a funny face, so sometimes she made me smile, but I think she is amazing. I hope she'll keep be like that.

Soundtrack: also good. I was focused mainly on the plot, so I can't tell you something specific. The fact that it does not bother me while watching it is a great start, right?

Conclusion: if you like thriller stuff and you want something quite light this is your show.

Quirky and somewhat interesting...I'll stick with it

Warning: Spoilers
Full disclosure, I've only seen a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory and some random youtube clips, but I've seen enough to know about the Penny-Leonard romance. Kaley Cuoco was one of those "hot" actresses that I never got the adoration for. They basically had to nerdify Johnny Galecki to the max to make me remotely believe that her character was out of his league on the series. From those aforementioned youtube clips, I've seen all of Galecki's other love interests on the show and I swear most or all of them did it for me way more than Cuoco. My point is that based on the Pilot to this show, NOW I see the hotness! lol Maybe it's because she's older and more mature but she looks awesome in this. Her character Cassie is a combination of beauty, goofy and sexy. In terms of her performance, I'd say that some of her dramatic acting could use some work. The way she was having those panic attacks reminded me of Victoria Pedretti's horrendous acting in The Haunting of Bly Manor, but at least Cuoco's character here balances it out with great comic timing, which makes sense with her comic roots from 8 Simple Rules and Big Bang Theory. Surprisingly, I was actually most impressed with Rosie Perez in this. Normally, I find Perez unbearable, but there was something about Megan that felt toned down, refreshing and non-cliche, while all of the other characters were various degrees of annoying with the on the nose quippy "Pilot banter" between characters that's supposed to be cute but is really fake and obnoxious. Also, Michael Huisman has an interesting part as the murder victim manifesting himself as Cassie's subconscious and psyche.

The show THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT with Cuoco in the title role appears to be a funny homage to the classic Hitchcock foreign intrigue chase thriller North by Northwest with the main character Cassie being framed for the murder of Huisman's character Alex Sokolov. Alex was a stockbroker for an international firm and probably mixed up with some dangerous people. So Cassie must navigate her way through the mess to both clear her name while taking down the mysterious organization. The premise itself is interesting if most of the characters are paper thin. Cuoco obviously has the lead chops comedically, which the show leans on a lot. Hopefully, this all leads to something worth sticking around for.

Truly shows Kaley's acting chops!!
quentinagreen19 June 2021
The Flight Attendant is a magnificent, brilliant intriguing series. The cast was perfectly chosen and the show was sure to give its characters back stories and made sure that none of these talented actors were just props or space fillers. I love the concept and when I seen the range exhibited by Kaley I was so impressed. You truly go on a ride with this show, because it takes you through every emotion that a human can experience and Kaley traverses these ranges effortlessly. I watched the show and once I was done, I restarted it.

The Flight Attendant

Warning: Spoilers
The show has a familiar presence, but it can't seem to find its voice. It struggles between awkward comedy and attempts at serious moments far too frequently.

I'll watch it, but this was underwhelming.

Looks pretty but not much there

Lots of pretty shots, flashbacks, music, "ETC" but the substance of the story is minimal. Very little. but you won't know that because its hidden in lots of flashbacks and other "effects" (like ap icture coming to live).

In Case of Emergency
lassegalsgaard18 May 2021
This is definitely a show that I never expected to watch. I've heard a lot of good things about it, but all the way from its premise to the people behind it, I just didn't think this was going to be for me. However, I'd be lying if I didn't say that all the good buzz kinda got me interested in seeing what it was all about. And while I'm definitely not going to review every single episode of the show, I'd be lying if I didn't say that the first episode was a big pile of fun with a lot of great mystery added.

First of all, I really expected this show to be a comedy, but it doesn't seem to be father away from one. Sure, there are funny scenes that play out like they would in a comedy, but the premise and the performance seem like they would fit more in with the dramatic spectrum. Which might be why I like the show as much as I do. It doesn't feel forced to make you laugh all the time, but does a great job actually landing the jokes when it comes to it. Kaley Cuoco gave good performances in "The Big Bang Theory," but this is definitely her star-maker. She comes across as very believable in this very vulnerable performance that pulls on all the strings and wants a lot from her. She manages to achieve great results with her work here, and I think this could be the door for new things to come for her. As pilot goes, this was a pretty good one. I was interested in the storyline throughout the entire episode, and I never felt like Cassie's constant paranoia became obnoxious. It all felt like a part in a bigger piece to be revealed later on. The writing is also very good. The lines are crisp, and the setting is fun and easy to explore. I would like more work on the dialogue, which does come across as very weird and far away from how normal people would talk. But that is honestly a little nitpick in something that worked for me.

"In Case of Emergency" is a good start to a show that seems like it could go anywhere. Cassie Bowden has been set up as a character I'd like to follow along with, and the premise seems like it could take her to interesting places, which I'll be happy to go to along with her.

Already tiresome
Bill-41229 November 2020
Maybe there is a plot line coming, but so far it is painful watching Cuoco overreacting and overacting. Her friends put up with this ridiculous personality and behavior, for no obvious reason. A child living an excessive life. Not interested at all.

All the usual suspects. . . .
skp-4327126 November 2020
So far, after the second episode, the storyline has followed all the cliches of a bad Hitchcock rip-off: The flight attendant, a dumb, but life of the party innocent blond, finds herself inextricably woven into dangerous circumstances involving a stranger she hardly knew (except for the sex thing) and she is pursued by crop dusting airplanes. No, wait, that was Cary Grant. Anyway, the friends of the flight attendant all love her, but are blissfully unaware of her predicament thereby adding to Cassie's constant goof-ups and angst. Really, it could pass for a Marx brothers movie. My apologies to Groucho. I gave this under achiever a five star because it is so predictably politically correct.

It started just fine but after five episodes it did not hold your interest. Many places you find characters acting childish, all actors did good job but few scenes it looks over acting. Not a great series but ok to kill time.
