The Kraft Music Hall: Friars Club Roast of Don Rickles (1970)

Johnny Carson is the host of this roast of Don Rickles and we get performances from Milton Berle, Dick Cavett, Alan King, Henry Youngman, Ed Herlihy and George C. Scott.

Yes, George C. Scott is part of a roast and Carson makes a great joke about him being willing to skip the Oscars yet he showed up to pay tribute to a "two bit comic." For the most part this here is a very funny roast and we get some terrific moments throughout. As you'd expect, Carson makes for a very funny host and his humor perfectly works well when going up against Rickles. For the most part all of the guests do a nice job with their jokes and I thought it was very funny seeing someone like Scott there.

The best thing about this is that the final thirteen-minutes of the show are Rickles getting payback. As you'd expect, his comic timing is just flawless and he makes for some incredibly funny jokes including some aimed at a kid sitting in the front row. If you're a fan of Rickles then you'll certainly love his section.
