The dress that Lilith first appears in was designed and created over five years by designer Natalie Hutton with her Claudia Savage label. Featuring over 10,000 hand-painted, hand-sized, and individually-placed red and black metal scales, it is one of a kind and valued at over U.S. $30,000. On January 14, 2020, shortly after being used in this episode, it was stolen from a car in West Hollywood. It is still missing as of September 2020.
This is the first time in five seasons that Lucifer addresses Trixie by name rather than with a sobriquet (such as "urchin" or "child").
Tom Ellis explained in several interviews he chose the ring at random from a tray of others to help complete Lucifer's look. There was no further meaning intended, but as fans noticed he was never without it (except once, when it was stolen along with his money - and then he made a point of retrieving only the ring), theories and speculation as to its "true" significance took off. This episode officially folds it into series mythology.
Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lilith/Mazikeen) said her portrayal of Mazikeen is inspired by several people, including Eartha Kitt and Grace Jones. For Lilith, she emphasized Kitt - most overtly visible in the moment when a singing Lilith, catlike, "flashes claws". Kitt made the same gesture in her iconic role as Catwoman in Batman (1966). Also, "I Want to Be Evil" is one of Kitt's signature songs.
Tommy Stopmanato's name is obviously a reference to Johnny Stompanato, the notorious mobster who was famously involved with Lana Turner and eventually stabbed to death by her 14-year-old daughter Cheryl Crane because of his repeated abuse of the movie star.
