Incredible movie near perfect
shakedatjunk27 June 2021
The action and emotion is some of the best I've ever seen and felt. I was in tears at many points in this movie just from how amazing it was all executed. Characters and their moments were all spectacular. The ideas of being a hero were corny yet tear inducing. You can tell the people who worked on this movie put their soul into it.

Only things keeping it from a 10/10 is the lack of transition between this movie and the show(we never see them get to the island or arrive back from the island), the story/writing wasn't anything out of the ordinary, and the slight asspull but it didn't even matter because it led to one of the most lit moments in the history of animation and superhero movies.

Even if you haven't seen the show watch this movie! Especially if you're an anime/manga/comic/superhero fan.

9.2/10.

Roger Moore is a bad critic lol.
t_ngu5 March 2020
Roger Moore argues that unless your already invested in anime franchises that you won't enjoy the movie. You could literally make that same argument about any franchise movie series like marvel movies or Star Wars or Harry Potter. That's a dumb a opinion. What he was really trying to say is, "I hate anime movies, because it's not mainstream." I translated your review for you Roger Moore 😁 lol.

Best Anime Movie!!!
rohitgurrala25 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie starts with the class 1A going to an island without teachers and they've to help the island people with their daily needs and learning for how to be a good hero. The story goes on t like that but the villain appears in the island for a rare quirk which can make him for a long time and he can use multiple quirks like all for one. When the villain appears the heroes who are still inexperienced had to fight with a strategy. Overall the movie amazing and the soundtrack for action scenes was fantabulous.

Exactly what MHA is...
justinhinson27 February 2020
This movie is beyond plus ultra. From the amazing fight scenes to the stunning visuals, it's literally a thrill ride. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this film. It's definitely a movie that will leave fans or normal movie going people speechless. I enjoyed seeing every Class 1A hero had time to shine. All in all an amazing storyline with tons of memorable scenes from start to finish. Highly recommend 10/10

Far Ahead Of Plus Ultra!!!

Warning: Spoilers
This movie might as well come out in the states right now, because I wanna see this godly piece of platinum on the big screen again! Everything about this Anime film is god-tier from beginning to end! The brilliant special effects, the impeccable writing, and the breathtaking cinematography, other Anime films cannot compete with this cinematic masterpiece!

The best part of this film is the amazing final battle, which United States Of Smashes the one from Two Heroes in an instant by giving Bakugo the One For All power, after Nine took it. It really shows that despite his anger issues and arrogance, Bakugo has made up for his actions in the past and is willing to hit danger like a truck! He should've got his hero license afterwards because of this very godly scene.

Overall, this is the best Anime film yet and I hope it does well at the box office in America and the rest of the globe!

The greatest anime movie of all time
shellbee-1024427 February 2020
From the second the movie starts to the very end, this movie is amazing! The action, animation, dialogue, music, and emotions are done so well that I was just in awe the whole film. There are so many special moments, and even some funny ones too! I didn't know how they could top the first movie, but this one takes the cake. I cannot recommend this movie enough, and will be seeing it a second time! #plusultra

Great climax but everything else is forgettable
MovieWarfare4 June 2022
One of my issue with the first My Hero Academia movie was the animation quality not being any better than the show. Well the 3rd act of this movie has an insanely good animation with one of the best fights seen in the series. It also explores a bit more of the relationship between Midoriya and Bakugo.

It's a shame that the ending ends up being dumb because they had to conform to the sake of canon. Additionally, the relationship between Midoriya and the new movie supporting character, Katsuma, is not interesting whatsoever. The first half of this movie is also quite slow and boring.

Just watch it for the action and not the plot.

Its an amazing movie to watch.

Warning: Spoilers
To the people who are concerned with the ending, Its infact a reference to what Deku used to think i.e he is not a worthy successor of one for all and perhaps All Might really made a mistake by choosing him, But in the end it really did prove that not only All Might choose him as a successor but infact one for all choose him and he really is a worthy successor of the power.

A fun time for fans of MHA
gavinvouriot14 March 2020
Just finished seeing this and theaters and it was pretty good.

For starters, this is way better than any of the Naruto and some of the Pokemon movies all thanks to one aspect: the god tier animation. Most anime movies based on a long-running series always have good fight animation (minus some of the Pokemon movies) but I've never seen fights quite like this in one of these movies before. Considering this movie is 80% action the animation quality never really lets up. The finale especially was amazing to watch.

The villains were really cool as well and every character from Class-A gets their chance to shine, which was something I wasn't really expecting. Everyone gets their badass moment, and it was awesome to see some of the more underappreciated characters like Sero and Aoyama do some cool stuff.

The story however is pretty uninspired and is mostly just there to have some cool fights. It's almost exactly like some of the previous arcs in the show. The two kid characters are very cliched for this kind of movie and are almost carbon copies of other kid characters from this show.

The villain is also a carbon copy of All for One but that didn't really bother me because I thought he was cooler. Johnny Yong Bosch voices him in the dub and I think that made me enjoy his presence a lot more than it should have. He's one of the few anime dub actors that really makes edgy work and it made for some genuinely badass villain moments.

Considering how simple this movie is, I'm actually surprised how much I enjoyed it. The action is fantastic but everything else is pretty standard shounen movie affair. It felt like watching an episode of My Hero Academia in the theater. I think with a bolder story and a more unique location this could have felt like a real event. Especially if the story was actually canon as well.

Could have used more smaller comedic interactions with the characters. I really think that would have made the movie a little better in my opinion.

Overall, a good movie that's worth seeing if you're a fan of MHA. It doesn't reach the heights that it could have but it's better than most of the other shounen anime tie in films that have come before. Worth seeing in theaters if you have the chance.

Perfect Balance
Migaish21 March 2020
First off; yes this does have spoilers from the manga, but they're so little or have 0 context, so if you're not with a manga reader you won't even notice It's a great movie with all our best boys/girls getting screentime, it's fun, wholesome and has a good villian to match The end fight was a little too over the top and didn't make much sense but it was still really awesome

A funny film!
jp_9113 December 2020
In the 2010's were a big success the superheros films, the anime also brought superheros films as "My Hero Academia: Two Heroes" (2018) and the sequel "My Hero Academia - Boku no hîrô akademia THE MOVIE - Heroes: Rising - Hîrôzu: Raijingu" (2019), this last one is not a masterpiece but it's a good movie, it could have been better. A overrated high IMDb punctuation, a funny film, no more! The animation is great, but the script is simple.

Terrible Ending
hmnz-09310 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Im sorry but the whole Deku giving one for all to Bakugo and losing his power all for a convenient Bakugo passed out while transferring so it stopped, and then the whole Bakugo couldn't remember anything was just stupid and pathetic. Just got to say why? What was the point, they couldn't just have the two work together to win or Deku access more of one for all?

The rest of the movie was fine, the ending ruined it for me. Also how do none of the other classmates ever talk about how strong Deku and Bakugo were? Like their power levels were crazy and caused so much damage to the surondings.

And then you watch season 4 and Deku is finding it hard to beat the weakling magician guy and says that was one of the hardest fights his had? I swear this anime is just mocking its fans lol

Good, not as the series. Can skip.

Better than previous movie for sure. This is average. Weak plot, fight scenes were mediocre, nothing outstanding but a great time killer. Underwhelming villains but love the sound scores this time. Non-canon (spin- off, not continuation from original) Recommended.

Absolutely Amazing!
snortexk20 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is by far one of the best anime movies I have ever seen! The setting, the plot, the voice acting, and the characters were all amazing! For a non-canon movie and for what little backstory they gave Nine it was still really good. I LOVE how they gave all the class members a chance to shine against the villain's. Since My Hero Academia - Heroes: Rising is non canon they didn't really explain all that much about Nine and his subordinates similar to Broly in Dragon Ball Z: Broly. The final battle (Midoriya and Bakugou vs Nine) was just peak ecstasy, the music that plays during the battle gives you a bundle of emotions from crying to feeling anxious! The ending even made me shed a tear... This was my first review, hope you take it into consideration and watch this masterpiece of a movie!

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising overcomes its simple plot by making full use of its runtime. The newly introduced villains can feel a little thin, but constant, gripping action allows previously underutilized secondary characters to shine. Fans of the anime with find the film a worthy installment.

Throwaway story, with some faults, maybe a lot
juliendussault29 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'd have to say that this movie isn't as great as I thought that it was going to be. It's shoddily written, the fights in this movie are ridiculously dumb, in that it's just a whole bunch of fighting and then randomly one of class 1-A's finest pulls out a super move that somehow ends the fight. The story is okay, but nothing to write home about.

The main drag of this movie is the main villain. He is called Nine and is referred to as just like One for All. That tells you something right there. Throughout his fights with both Deku and Kacchan, he supposedly loses energy and is completely out of energy and halfway to the movie he does go into some sort of rest mode, but apparently after all that rest he's all good and better. Later, apparently this whole resting phase that we thought was going to be his defeat is completely thrown out the window. There's some sort of power bar on his back and liquid dispensers fit into his costume, which both indicate that he doesn't have enough power to continue fighting, but miraculously it goes back up and he's able to fight more. By the end of movie his whole outfit breaks and the magic goo comes out and he is now so powerful that both Deku and Kacchan combined are apparently not enough, which makes absolutely no sense.

This is the part that really irked me because you can't just rewrite two characters for a movie and expect to get away with it. Deku and Kacchan apparently can't keep up with this new villain anymore so Deco decides that the only possible option is to give One for All to Kacchan, which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. There's even a line that says "If one One for All can't beat him, Two will!" So apparently both Deku and Kacchan weild one for all at the same time and defeat 9, only to pass out and defeat the villain.

Deku wakes up and tells All Might that he passed on One for All to Kacchan, but wait! It's clause time. We all know that One-for-All cannot be stolen, but here's another one to add to that list. Apparently if you pass out while somebody is trying to actually transfer One for All to you, you don't get to keep it. It stays with the original holder. Makes sense right?

All in all, this movie wasn't half bad. It was entertaining but at the same time there were so many plot holes that it was kind of hard to enjoy the film, but I did but I don't know if I'd watch it again.

Was it really necessary to set this in Season 5?
aptcatex28 February 2020
This movie is almost completely flawless. Perfect animation, characters, plot, references to source material music etc. You don't need me to tell you why this movie is fantastic. As a manga reader and die hard fan, I want to give some more light on my criticisms out of love for this series.

The singular flaw with this movie when it is set with the series. This movie takes places around the My Villain Academia arc, 2 arcs and an entire season after where we are currently. This means that a lot of plot points from these are "subtlety" implied, including but not limited to revealing 4 separate major plot twists from the upcoming arcs with no context or depth to them bar some inconsistent plot armour. Hawks is the biggest waste of potential here by being the most important character in the upcoming arcs.
