In the overhead shots of the train moving down the track the locomotives pulling the train are Alco PA's. In the ground level shots of the train going by the locomotives pulling the train are EMD F's/E's. Also in the overhead shots there is a black unit immediately behind the lead locomotive, in the ground level shots there is no black unit.
Nearly every time the train is seen, the horn is heard, to include open areas with no crossings in sight. Trains blow horns only when required, such as approaching crossings.
When Betty finally throws the switch to allow the train to continue through the station on the main line, you can see the spur rail actually move over to the main rail meaning that she has engaged the spur rail for the siding.
One of the robbers says the way station is in an isolated area miles from the main road, yet when the two robbers enter, background traffic noise indicates it is on a main road, the crossing for which is seen as Mathews and Williams are taking the robber to jail. Additionally, after one robber reveals the plan and the attendant stands up, another highway with cars passing is visible outside the window.
The train dispatcher tells Mathews that the road to the way station past town is rough, yet Mathews is shown driving on paved roads in good condition well outside of town.
The robber stated he had spent a lot of time on his plan, yet he failed to realize that the train cars parked on the siding before and after the station would have caused the train to derail into the station, killing everyone inside, including the robbers.
