Mike Hammer : Oh, I wouldn't say that. Now, if Tony Danzig was her daddy, then this guy in the window made her an orphan. Maybe I can adopt her.
June : I went out with Tony a few times - for lunch mostly - but between you and me, it was strictly business.

Mike Hammer : Yeah, he got the business.

June : It was terrible. You know, he never had a chance.

Mike Hammer : That was the general idea, wasn't it?
Pete Martin : Now, you walked away from a pineapple... do you think you can walk away from a slug? Do you think, maybe?

Mike Hammer : It's been done.

Pete Martin : Not where I plant the slug, shamus.
Pete Martin : What are you doin' here?

Johnny Allen : It's June, Pete. She just died!

Mike Hammer : Well, that fattens your batting average, Pete. Women *and* children, as well as men!
