- TriviaOne of the Marvel comic book series discussed as a possible Disney+ series is "Son of Satan" (first published in 1975) which was turned into a short-lived series broadcast on Hulu: Helstrom (2020).
- GoofsThe episode makes it seem that Paul Scheer is just now discovering "Brute Force" when in fact, he had written "Deadpool Bi-Annual #1" in 2014 which featured Brute Force.

This was the episode of "Marvel 616" that inspired me to watch the show. I like the "How Did This Get Made" podcast, on which Paul Scheer had mentioned this was coming. Though episode itself was interesting, but I found the mix of documentary and mockumentary to be a little jarring.
Paul Scheer takes a meeting with Disney about creating a Marvel show for Disney Plus. The executives suggest that he looks though some of the more obscure and esoteric titles. Having explored that history, with the help of Marvel creatives he lands on "Brute Force" a four-issue coming about a team of cybernetically enhanced animals that battle for the good of the planet. Deciding that animation is his best bet, he commissions a short teaser trailer and talks to various actors about their thoughts for the series.
For me, the episode was a little uneven. When it was a genuine documentary, it was really good. Scheer's genuine interactions with various writers and then specifically with the creators of Brute Force are funny, as is the off the cuff interview section with the actors at the end about potentially voicing the Brute Force characters. It's less successful when its attempted scripted moments, interruptions from the camera crew and team aren't great, nor the sections when Paul acts out explaining how documentaries work. The good outweighs the bad though.
Marvel aficionados might point out that Scheer pretends not to know about Brute Force, when he co-wrote the Deadpool crossover episode back in 2014 (to be fair, in other interviews he does address this). It doesn't take much work, much bouncing the idea around to see that in the right hands there could be something done with Brute Force and I understand that the episode created a run on the comics on eBay. I'll not be surprised when they show up for a cameo in another Disney Plus series soon.
