Auf Die Mensur
Although the percentage of those students who are members of fraternities in Europe is disappearing small nowadays, it is a nice paradox that every time when students'matters are depicted, the picture shows "incorporated" students, i.e. fraternity students with their characteristic hats, bands, colors, "Bierzipfels", and not to forget the Rapier or saber, the weapons that are used in order to get satisfaction if someone has been "touched", i.e. hurt in his honor - hence the title of this "Tatort". Fraternities go back to the Middle Ages - spiritually at least, but not institutionally, since most have been founded only in the later 19th century. In our time, after we have lived through the nonsense of psychoanalysis which has finished off the once so important terms "honor" or "dignity" (under the false assumption that each human being is "equal"), satisfaction must appear ridiculous, although a good fraternity once had a structure like a bourgeois family with obligations and rights and a clear Ordo so that the idea came up to define the family as the cell of a state. So, applied to our time, this would mean that the state is an oligarchic banana republic ... . The film does a marvelous job in showing the rites and customs of the fraternity as authentic as possible. Well, I would doubt that Chinese people could become members of the specific fraternity depicted in the movie, and also about the drug story I have never heard, but the details are so perfect including the pattern of fighting Professor Börne is showing before the dummy in this attic. This is not self-evident (as one can see in cheaper criminal stories), and it requires our honest thanks.
