Epic Family Drama Well-Told
elizziepassa28 March 2024
Bruce Carlton Cunningham wrote and directed this excellent entry into the crime family saga movie genre. Cunningham portrays the lead character of Tremaine Willis with patience and heart. Supporting him are Morgan Pierce playing his older daughter Carlissa, and Cetris Ivy Sr as his brother. This is a violent family drama about feuding gangs in the streets of St. Louis, MO. The crime lord is portrayed by a woman, which I appreciated. A raw, gritty depiction of criminal life that delivers the goods. The lead character tries his best to mend his own past and stay out of the fighting, but bad choices on the part of his older daughter Carlissa pull him in. Excellent music and cinematography. Fighting and gunplay was suspenseful. This filmmaker really cared abut his message and he had something to say.

Riveting, On the edge of your seat!
autumnbookings24 February 2024
I watched this and I must say everyone should take the time to watch. I love that it was shot in my home town of St. Louis. This film told the story of so many experiences that people go through here in the Lou and in other places as well. Im tell y'all, I turned the movie on and barely made my appointment. Lol. I just couldn't stop watching. My plan was to watch and get ready for my appointment at the same time, but there was no part of the movie where I wanted to stop watching. So needless to say, I was rushing to my appointment. This movie kept me on my toes wondering what was next. Also a tear jerker, with moments of comic relief. I hollered when the main character didn't know what FB live was and he said she not in her room and the mom was like yeah I know cause she on FB live. Hilarious! But anyway, go out and support. Looking forward to seeing big things from this Director, Poet, Story Teller. Oh was good to see some local people in the movie that I actually recognized. Good job everyone!

Instant Cult Classic
anthonyraymondholmes4 March 2024
The next Indie Cult Classic... Un-Resolved is a definitive film that will set new standards in independent filmmaking. Dark and gritty...spiritually uplifting, with a tasteful balance of humor, contrition, passion, and suspense...with lives in the balance, the plot unfolds surgically and paced evenly throughout.

Un-Resolved hits the high water mark on every level. Acting, plot, cinematography, soundtrack, cast and crew. Amazingly all are resourced from local talent. This indie film showcases a part of St. Louis culture that many never get to witness, or do not live to tell about! The underworld... From the street POV of the "real G's" to a literal bird's eye view of the landmarks, thruways, and neighborhoods of the great city in which the epic unfolds, this movie encompasses a full menu. Nurturing love and family blood ties struggle against outside temptation and frustrating cycles of conflict and reparation...dealt by dark underground influences.

From the opening soundtrack to the end credits, Un-Resolved is a 5-star production that holds its own with any urban drama that I have ever watched. Seeing it once is not enough...

RIVETING AND RAW
dbcasting-877-44685827 February 2024
I really loved this film with its central character dedicated to his family's well being no matter the cost. The characters are well drawn and well played in a plot that keeps you guessing until the end. I was particularly impressed with Mr. Cunningham who wrote, produced, directed and starred in the film--especially when I discovered it took him years to complete it from its inception, writing, editing, and the photography completed over weekends, etc. It is truly an impressive accomplishment. I can't wait to see what Mr. Cunningham accomplishes next. Do yourself a favor--SEE THIS FILM TODAY.

A poignant tale that delves deep into redemption
ethan_minsker7 May 2024
"Un-Resolved" is a poignant tale that delves deep into redemption, the relentless grip of the past, and the unyielding cycle of violence. Directed and written by Bruce Carlton Cunningham JR, this film unfolds with raw authenticity and emotional depth.

"Un-Resolved" follows the journey of a father striving to forge a new path after his release from prison, determined to set things right for his children. Yet, fate has its own designs, and his past threatens to derail his newfound purpose.

One of the film's most compelling aspects is its exploration of the repercussions of revenge, illuminating how it perpetuates a vicious cycle of violence that knows no end. Cunningham crafts richly defined characters, each grappling with their own inner demons and struggles, mirroring truths about the human condition and the interconnectedness of our actions.

As the narrative unfolds, it becomes evident that once the wheels are set in motion, there's no turning back. The film underscores the challenges of change, highlighting the formidable barriers posed by one's environment, social circles, and societal perceptions. Yet, amidst the turmoil, there shines a beacon of hope in the form of redemption-a theme central to the protagonist's journey.

Cunningham's filmmaking prowess is evident throughout, evoking the gritty authenticity of 70s cinema that resonates with audiences. From the emotive montages to the stirring soundtrack, every element of "Un-Resolved" contributes to its immersive storytelling experience.

"Un-Resolved" is more than just a film-it's a poignant reflection on the human spirit's capacity for redemption, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Raw story
kalanipark20 February 2024
It's a raw and realistic story on what happens in US cities. This story took part in the city of St. Louis. The characters were well developed, it's a character driven film. It's a story where the main character is searching for redemption. There are some intense scene in the film so be mindful of that. There are also lots of well developed plot twists. The film's exploration of forgiveness and reconciliation is both profound and thought-provoking, challenging audiences to reflect on their own capacity for compassion and understanding. If you like stories about redemption show in a raw way then you'll enjoy this film.

Wonderful actors for a great plot! Would definitely recommend to all my family and friends!! First 10 minutes had me entertained which is very important because movies should be entertaining from the beginning to the end, especially when the storyline leaves you wanting more, watching the movie again to look for anything you've missed before. I'll be watching this again knowing i'll be enjoying it due to how much I enjoyed it the first time. Un-Resolved isn't just your typical redemption story.
scanscapework9 March 2024
Un-Resolved isn't just your typical redemption story. This flick keeps you on the edge with mad tension, old scars getting ripped open, and secrets spilling out like it's nobody's business. The climax? Straight-up heart-stopping, got you clinging to the edge of your seat. But what really makes "Un-Resolved" stand out is the killer performances and storytelling finesse. Each character is deep and complex, making it easy to vibe with their struggles and triumphs. If you're into gripping stories, dope performances, and a real message, "Un-Resolved" is a must. I recommend this one with two thumbs up.

A no-holds-barred illustration of consequences and second chances.
filmskayceepictures22 March 2024
Talk about a punch to the gut.

Un-Resolved by Bruce Carlton Cunningham Jr. Has been on my must watch list for a while now and I cant believe I've been sleeping on this phenomenal film this long.

Characters:

The acting in this is amazing. Many films that have gangsters from the hood, especially independent films, often have every person act and talk like a hood stereotype. It's like every actor took the same class on how to act that way. This is not the case here. Every character is crafted to perfection from the kill-in-a-minute gangsters to those trying to just live and survive to those just caught in the fray. Cunningham does a tremendous job as Tremaine (and unrecognizable as a young version too) and gives a full dynamic of his acting range as his tragic character just tries to deal with the aftermath of his situation while trying to be a good father, taking full advantage of his second chance.

I love films where everyone stands out, no matter the size of their role and this is a film where everyone stands out. From the kids to adults, every actor was cast perfectly in their role and interact in a way that feels natural. Some of my favorite interactions include the tense conflict between Tremaine and Monte, a dangerous gangster who has hooks in Tremaines daughter, and Tremaine and his brother, Jermaine, who opens his door to him after Tremaine gets out of prison. Let me touch on that for a second. Jermaine is probably one of the most loyal family members I've ever seen on screen. Even when things take a turn for the worse during the third act, he is still open to help his brother. Usually in movies like this, the ex-convict gets shut out. This provided a nice change of pace.

There were a few times when I did feel the acting was a tad stilted, such as the scenes between Carlisa and her teacher, as well as a few points in the final standoff. And While I do feel like there are several underutilized characters such as those played by Adam Flowers and Joel Antony (look out for this guy as this character turned in a surprise that you won't see coming until the smoke clears), and even the man from the prison Tremaine parts ways with, for the most part, I enjoyed the performances from these talented actors and actresses.

The plot:

The plot keeps you guessing. You'd think this film is gonna go the way "The Wrestler" did in terms of moving on from a past life. You would be wrong. However, this film is called "Un-Resolved" for a reason and that alone should tell you the way things are gonna go. No beating around the bush, no trying to escape. It's coming. The slow burn of this film provides that sense of impending doom and one only wonders when each character will face theirs.

While the film does lag a bit in the middle, and possibly could have been trimmed down, it still works. The only issue is, I was able to look down at my phone in some parts, look back up, still get what the whole scene was trying to convey, and still sit through a minute more of it. Almost like watching a director's cut. Nevertheless, the plot did keep me guessing and on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

Music:

The score reminded me a little of Hans Zimmer and Hildur Gudottinir, very sweet and sad. The hip hop tracks were great too, though sometimes their placement was a tad questionable. It felt very "this is what all indie filmmakers from St Louis do" in terms of placement, which kind of took me out a couple times. But as far as song choices, whoever was over the music knocked it out of the park. There was a track in the studio scene that I'd love for my playlist

Overall:

Overall, this slow burn tragedy, while a tad on the longer side, boasts eye-opening performances by an ensemble STL cast that makes for an effective viewing and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

8.2/10.

Great watch
pacificmediafilms27 April 2024
This indie action film is a must see. With great pacing, superb acting, and beautiful cinematography, it tackles the issues of revenge and where to draw the line. Faced with the question of trying to choose a different path and safer life, or the easy route with fast money, good times but the worry of constantly looking over your shoulder as your life is at steak and today may be your last breath. Some find their breaking points, while others continue the path of an eye for an eye. Essentially it boils down to maturity and family but not without its many twists and turns. I recommend it for an engaging experience.

Great Storyline
dlyles-4373426 February 2024
I enjoyed this film. The storyline was great...no plot holes. Great films involve character growth... Tremaine's character grew tremendously in this film with his personal struggle of reverting back to his old ways and reckoning with his past. His love for his bonus daughter, Carlissa was evident in their tense conversation regarding her life choices. His love for his daughter, Domonique was shown through heartfelt moments and a Father/Daughter teaching moment. Tremaine didn't focus too much on what people thought about him or his past as much as wanting to be present now for his children. His character truly showed how redemption is possible but that doesn't negate consequences from our past choices. The best dialogue was the moments where Tremaine was faced with his decisions and how they affected those around him...come to Jesus moments so to speak. One of these conversations was with his brother, Jermaine, who didn't sugar coat anything the entire movie. Overall, this film was solid. The premise was clear and concise. Every character was carefully knit together and all of their stories came together in the end. Great film! I look forward to more films from Bruce Cunningham and maybe working together one day.

Transcendent
shawniececarter18 February 2024
"Un-Resolved" is more than just a story of personal redemption-it's also a gripping tale of confronting the ghosts of one's past. As the ex-convict seeks to reconnect with his oldest daughter, he is forced to confront a deadly enemy from his past, threatening to unravel the fragile peace he has worked so hard to achieve. The tension is palpable as old wounds are reopened and secrets come to light, leading to a heart-stopping climax that will leave us (the audience) on the edge of our seats.

What truly elevates "Un-Resolved" is its powerful performances and nuanced storytelling. Each character is imbued with depth and complexity, allowing its viewers to empathize with their struggles and triumphs. The film's exploration of forgiveness and reconciliation is both profound and thought-provoking, challenging audiences to reflect on their own capacity for compassion and understanding.

An entertaining crime film
christopherfrint30 April 2024
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, I felt it was really well put together with a fantastic cast, great score and strong direction. It is such an achievement that Bruce Carlton Cunningham, wrote, directed, and played the lead role as doing even one of those roles is incredibly challenging. The story had some great tension and twists to it and overall was a solidly developed redemption arc. While a bit of a slow burn at times (I do think it could have been tightened up in some spots), it never feels like it drags. I definitely recommend this film if you are looking for a unique take on the crime genre.

Raw & Realistic View of That Life
powerfit11117 February 2024
This film had me hooked from the beginning. It was raw and so realistic to what is going on in a portion on our city. The cinematography was very good, showing all parts of St. Louis. The characters were well developed and the acting was very good. I love the aspects of faith that were spread throughout the film, and the quest for redemption. There are some intense scene in the film so be mindful of that. There are also lots of well developed plot twists; shoutout to the screenwriter for that. This was just a well done film all around. It is nice to see more movies like that dipict the harder truths of living in this area, but also provide a faith base. Well done to all involved.

St. Louis film makers.
branmans-182485 May 2024
I was absolutely impressed with the movie. Followed the story line all the way thru. Waiting for the next movie. Also, the scenery was excellent. The approach, the producer took was nice. The quality of actors he had in the film did a lot of justice. I can say about the producer, just a little bit of funding, more marketing, and funding, no doubt in my mind this film would have been seen nation wide. That's how good the quality of the movie was. Last, this producer should continue doing more movies with the quality of work put into un-resolved and the next one. Pretty sure the producer will be know in the industry.

Appreciated this one!
mrkick3166014 February 2024
I gave this one five stars, and it deserved everyone of them. Very potent and relatable content, with excellent acting. It brings redemption to tha destructive reality of street-life. Be careful if you're not a person of faith you just might be one after this one... As a writer, storyteller and publish author, (considered a good one at that) the ego tends to be huge. So I have to admit one thing, and that's not easy to do. That bombshell he drops at the end still have me throwed. I even asked him about that ending. Although I don't know him personally, I caught up with him on social media and he had the audacity to tell me to watch it again. Oh, I will figure it out...RonThaWriter.

Great redemption story
adorjanmarcel12 March 2024
This indie gem is a story about redemption where an ex con Tremaine is trying to get his life back on track. He's got a girl who is terminally ill and one who is mixed up with the wrong crowd, trying to hold on to dear life. Out protagonist is trying to go straight however the underworld is constantly trying to pull him back in.

The pacing of the movie is slow so our characters are allowed to unravel into a modern day tragic story with dire consequences. The cinematography and the locations were particularly good and the violent scenes were cleverly shot.

Can Tremaine find forgiveness and reconcile with his past, watch it and you will find out.

Incredible, Suspenseful Drama Worth Watching
sugarparksmusic13 March 2024
Wow what an amazing, emotionally moving, at times heart wrenching, spiritually fulfilling, suspenseful film that had me caring about characters, crying, cheering, and at the edge of my seat. This was a long film, but every second mattered. The story was so well written and edited and pretty much every single acting performance was truly incredible and believable. I could not turn my eyes. My husband called while I was watching and I had to rewind that part. I was just so deeply involved. I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful, dramatic film with lots of feels and action and great characters.
