A successful TV series from 1989 that had this song as part of its soundtrack brought me to this amazing song quite recently during a re-run. It didn't play in so many episodes as other songs present
there but its impact was strong enough to leave me curious and listen to it repeatedly. Midge Ure is a great writer and performer and "Dear God" is one of those most positive
songs I've heard, with plenty of feelings with his cry for God.
The video consists of Ure performing the song and many images from many people and children of different backgrounds having a good time or at times introspective in their loneliness (but the elder black dancer steals the show dancing in his backyard). As for lyrics to connect with those images we have Ure asking for good things to those in need, some prospect of future for those who don't have much in their lives. It might not appeal to many viewers but it certainly has its clear positive message, it's all good to see.
A quite good video with a highly effective song. Amazing instrumental parts as well. The video is just the single album version, but I suggest you to search for the extended version which is even better, you can truly admire the instruments played. 8/10.
