An engaging metaphor
squidderz3 October 2021
Despite its occasionally cringe-y dialog, I really liked this episode, and Zoë Chao's performance in particular. The story expanded its initial "meet cute" trope and managed to artfully illustrate the day/night, me/you divide we all face when we decide to truly share our life with someone.

Didn't connect

Nope. I get what it was about. Didn't viscerally, emotionally connect with me.

Real life beautifully shown.

As someone who happens to have Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder themselves, this episode was something incredibly new to me. It was a representation of my way of living and my illness that I had never seen before. And if was hopeful and lovely and happy. It made me feel seen while also showing a beautiful love story that anyone can enjoy.

Relatable modern love story
shane118119 August 2021
I can relate to being the girl 100% ... having an invisible medical condition that makes it imposible to live the way other 30-somethings do, but having near everyone else judge her negatively because she looks perfectly healthy.

Annoying, Selfish Girl finds a Boy willing to put up with her
HwajangshilAgashi21 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's an interesting idea, but there was simply nothing likeable about the woman. She was completely selfish and entitled. I understand she suffered from a health condition that she had no control over, but she acted like that meant that everyone else must completely adapt to her, rather than finding some sort of compromise.

The man changed his life completely to suit hers, and she wasn't able to set an alarm the one time he wanted to do something during the day? I mean come on! Even a "normal" person manages to get themselves up out of bed at odd times when they have to, e.g. To go to the airport, or for whatever other reason. "Normal" people like nurses have schedules that change wildly, and they adapt. Couples where one person works days and the other works days manage to make things work. It just takes work, the ability to see things from the other's POV, and the ability to compromise. Is it easy? No, of course not. And sometimes people can't make it work, even though they try. However, these people were supposed to be newly in love. You know, that phase of love where you'd do anything to spend more time with the other person... What's she going to be like 20 years down the road, when love has changed/faded. She'll still be a selfish, entitled brat who throws a tantrum when a restaurant won't make her a custom meal because she wants breakfast at dinnertime.

IT'S A FAIRYTALE!!!
tarantula-9546013 August 2021
What a natural love story! The girl is real, the boy is real, their loneliness is real. You can relate to girl, you can realate to boy, you can realate to every single thing in this episode. There's a girl with a disease who thinks she will be lonely for the rest of her life but one day she finds a boy who can understand her, who want to understand her. It's a fairytale!!!

Wow. A Show About Me!
carolerichmond7 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. A Show About Me!

I have never seen a show about my lifestyle. This story is definitely about me and my husband.

Early to bed, early to rise does not work for me! I go to bed at 8am and actually have to work to keep it at that. I may not even truly be on a 24 hour schedule. For some people are on a 25 hour cycle.

I never considered myself ill, just different. And I set up my life around my schedule, rather than trying to fit in with the rest of the world. Even moving to another continent did not alter my schedule in the long run.

Although, in the beginning we tried each others scheduled, but we were both exhausted. We have worked it out and been married 28 years.

Thank you!

The chemistry is non existent

Warning: Spoilers
The chemistry is off. The actress was quite bad in playing this introverted girl. The dialogue and story at the end is cringey af. Ugh.

Amazingly accurate
acatasleep1 March 2024
This struck a real chord with me because I have non-24 hour circadian rhythm. The extreme loneliness, feeling misunderstood and out of phase with the world brings an alienation where you think you can never be understood or connect with others is very accurate.

It's amazing to see the struggles this struggles this brings actually recognised and depicted sympathetically, rather than being shown as being selfish, lazy or just not trying hard enough.

My husband and I have adapted to this, to the point that the few days a month we actually wake up and go to sleep at around the same time are actually the most difficult for us both.

Frustrating
mamet-947136 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like this episode because I really like these actors. However they had no chemistry and it was pretty unbelievable that his character would opt to sleep on public transit at night just to be with this not particularly charming and selfish girl. She made sacrifices for a girl that she doesn't particularly like but can't be there for him?

Down to earth.
totallyhot7820 August 2021
After the lovely first episode, the quality slips about 100 notches. Dull, unlikable characters. The story is not witty or dramatic. It's just THERE. Again, you won't give the slightest toss if these two make it or not!

Incredibly boring
lorenzosfarra18 August 2021
This episode was a bad surprise.

I have really enjoyed all the 1st season, and the 1st episode of the 2nd season was great.

Surprise: this episode was boring and slow.

I don't want to add details to not spoil anything, so I will just say that the subject was interesting, but the main actors, the structure and the execution of the episode leave you with a sense of "slowness": I wanted to see the end, but at the same time I was constantly checking the remaining time hoping it was close to the end.

Hopefully the next one will be back to this series standard.

Really awful writing
lehealy1 September 2021
This was just such a painful episode, especially put in contrast to the first of this season. Way poorer quality all-around. The writing was truly cringe-worthy and predictable. Definitely one to skip IMO.
