Oh, Those Opening Wisecracks!
ccthemovieman-119 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
CSI writers always like to have one of their guys make some wisecrack in the opening scene. This goes way back to the first year of CSI: Las Vegas when William Petersen would utter some bad pun and then - wham - the dramatic opening music. Anyway, in this one, "Don Flack," who is more of a wiseguy that series lead "Mac," makes some funny remark about a dead groom right before the wedding. Later, the always-strange medical examiner, "Sid," after discovering a small alarm-clock-phone in the dead's guy stomach, says, "Boy, this is my first dead ringer!" Even Danny laughs out loud at that one!

Oh, well, you need humor to help put up with the bizarre and gross scenes you see on CSI shows, so why not? Everyone's a comedian on this show, even though it doesn't fit. One other thing you always get on CSI is a wild opening. This episode is no exception. Where else but CSI would you find a mêlée at a wedding and the groom found dead elsewhere?

With 3-D jigsaw puzzles and a whole bunch of other catch-me-if-you-can mysteries, this winds up to be a very good episode.

It also turns out to be a show which continues next week as "Mac" (Gary Sinise) winds up in Chicago! Our CSI discovers the person sending all these puzzle clues (which is NOT part of the wedding murder) is the one who has been sending Mac all those strange "333" messages for the past few months. Actually, that part of this episode was far more intriguing than the groom-murder story, which didn't turn out to be much.
