Good starcast but unexciting ending
anannaware-0462112 August 2020
Movie start with great laughter but this laugh fades as movie progresses. director tried to add some emotional scenes but remain unsuccessful during to bad screenplay. End could have been better and gradual.

Light entertainer with masala & naughty jokes
aussiemalwayi1 June 2020
Main theme of the Coma patient & Old TV programmes is totally inspired from the German movie "Good Bye, Lenin" (2003). But the team added some masala jokes and made it a good entertainer. Manu Rishi Chadha is the best part of the story, Mahie Gill didn't get much chance.

Warm & Wonderful But..
OnjiMooteDaMarle6 July 2020
The film is just around an hour and a half. All the actors are amazing. The story/ idea is obviously a remake (of 2003 German film 'Good Bye Lenin'). But this is well Indianized. I did love every bit in every scene. The film was quirky and comical and at times emotional. I expected some kind of ending but here there was no ending. It was like - 'let's wrap up today and go home' kind of ending. After making such a wonderful film till the climax, I don't know why they rushed the ending in such a way. Very badly finished. Very disappointed with that. Apart from the climax, the film is a fun ride for the entire family.

Crap remake of a German film - Goodbye Lenin
sidney70731 July 2020
I am a little astonished with the positive reviews for this movie - C'mon guys, this is a really badly made movie. The concept was great, recreating 80s atmosphere - but the movie completely missed the plot. The actors were really great - but when you have a weak script, what more can the actors do? Like I said earlier, this has been copied from a German film - Goodbye Lenin which I must have seen 7 years back. In Goodbye Lenin, the son and daughter recreate 80s East Germany (before unification) for their mother who was in a comma when the Berlin Wall broke. The effort that went into recreating that atmosphere in the movie was breathtaking, music was outstanding - whereas Doordarshan relied on silly double meaning jokes to get some smiles. Come on Mr. DIRECTOR and SCRIPTWRITER - please put in more effort, I am sure you can do better.

One time watch
thewizardwithin26 June 2021
The story is preposterous, but the screenplay, dialogues and acting were good. I laughed out loud quite a few times. But you really you have to suspend your disbelief to enjoy the movie.

good 1st half but dadi scenes are too long and boring
yamahapic2 June 2020
The artists are very good for a budget movie, the start is very good and interesting but.....the scenes on the dadi are so long that it becomes boring...some more scenes at office, at college and on the road would be good for the movie..but i watched it completely...Mahie Gill is a very good artist and hope to see her often..

Fun and Entertaining
pratapchaudhry28 July 2020
Yes yes, I am bias towards non-commercial , sensible, talented and refreshing cinema, hence the 8 star ratings.Period. Honestly speaking , you got to appreciate such cinema where effortless performances, no overacting and refreshing/fun plot can make you smile or cry. We should also try to relate ourselves to a son who will do anything to make his bed-ridden mother happy, and in process whole family comes together( with background of divorce). Please ignore some comments about ending and all that , and enjoy this family fest. Cheers

Fun Watch
IPyaarCinema6 February 2021
Review By Kamal K

After Do Dooni Chaar, you will get to see similar but differently engaging film. A very well directed film. Kudos to Gagan Puri. I am sure people who are born in 80s will be able to relate with both the generations' struggle and mindset. Script could have been better but the timing and hold on characters by the cast has lifted a weak script writing. Mahi Gill was a bit of misfit from casting point of view (No offense to her acting though). Rest of the actors has acted as committed. Overall good concept and good watch. If this film would had released on Netflix during nationwide lockdown when Ramayan was re telecast on TV that would have helped catching more eye balls of media. Dolly ma'am as Beeji has given amazing performance.

Plot not original
hemihr-613-36052331 July 2020
Plot lifted from 2003 German movie " Good bye Lenin" .Very poorly copied..bad screenplay. Acting by all the main characters is the saving grace. Much better movie could have been made ..any ways the plot was copied. Very average!!!

Flimsy concept, poor screenplay
MindblowingMahiya27 July 2020
'Door Ke Darshan' follows the unfortunate phenomenon of now increasingly mundane 'slice of life' genre of Hindi movies. There are the usual ingredients: North Indian middle class setting, 'everyday' characters, an improbable yet funny sounding premise, an able and unassuming ensemble cast and a dialect other than 'Bambaiiya Hindi'. Unfortunately, this style of movie-making is now so mechanical, it loses all engagement. Some of these movies have concept so bizarre, they are offensive. Remember a town full of grown men lusting after an underage school girl in 'Chaman-Bahar'? What lacks in this movie is an imaginative story telling and - for the most part - humor. Entire story is predictable and jokes which are not funny to begin with, become repetitive. It is as if they went through the second draft of the script and decided that that is good enough. Cast is able and go through the routine.

Could have been bettter...
jkt200625 July 2020
Started as a promising movie but the script somewhere along with middle begins to drag and so start seeing similar situations over and over. The premise is very interesting and funny too. Performances are pretty good too. I believe inspite of it being a 90 mins or so movie it felt like over two hours. Tells me that the script could have been way better.

Anyways, thanks to the creators for giving us a different kind of movie

Great Idea - Poor execution
Shreyansh2195 August 2020
The concept is unique and opens up to many possibilities and situations. But the story fails to do justice to the concept. The sets, the language and the characters - everything seems to have a " me too " feel to it - as in we have seen all of them in so many of the films based in Delhi. There are very few genuinely funny moments even though all the characters keep trying. Many subplots do no add up and a few like the erotic story reading sessions appear forced. The actors are really good - specially Manu Rishi delivers an outstanding performance. He conveys the helplessness of a single father dealing with a whimsical wife and teenage kids perfectly well. Mahie Gill though seems wasted in a role where her character isn't developed with depth.

The movie does test your patience and you might feel like not watching it till the end a few times.

DOORDARSHAN (Netflix) - Enthusiastic performances for a story that fails to inspire
msunando11 August 2020
Darshan Kaur (Dolly Ahluwalia) has been comatose for 30 years since an accident in 1989, while the world around her changed. Her son Sunil (Manu Rishi Chadha) is a father of two and his wife Priya (Mahie Gill) is threatening him with a divorce. Life wasn't like this always, Sunil and Priya, childhood friends were in love with each other. That being the background, the film is actually about Darshan coming back to her senses and the doctor warning the household that time has to rewind by 30 years to ensure that she doesn't suffer a shock. The news about the passage of time must be broken slowly to allow her to come to terms with it.

This is where things get somewhat out of hand - Darshan Kaur is told that she has been out of action for just six months. Sunil and Priya put up an act about still being in high school, making the excuse of suffering from thyroid for looking overweight. Their son Sunny and daughter Sweety are turned into servants for the household, mobile phones are termed transistors and Doordarshan is revived. The whole act, initially interesting, gradually turns out to be contrived and protracted, failing to uphold engagement or evoke laughter. Eventually Darshan Kaur must realise the truth behind the chronology and the actual state of affairs, but not before we have yawned several times.

Dolly Ahluwalia is spunky, but her act is similar to what she did in Vicky Donor and Axone. Manu Rishi Chadha is impressive though and with Mahie Gill by his side, does a fair job to keep the tempo up for a while. Shardul Rana is fun to watch in the role of their son, while Rajesh Sharma and Supriya Shukla prop up the script well. Doordarshan should have been shorter and the script made a little more credible as the film is fraught with spoilers that drag the narrative to being untenable.

Deserves better ratings
madonnicallysony11 August 2020
Indeed this movie was a breath of fresh air...Superb acting by the entire cast notably Dolly Singh, Mahie Gill and the actor who play Sunny. Everybody had an excellent comic timing. There are no dull moments in this movie. Light hearted adult comedy. A must watch in my opinion
