A very special Christmassy TaleSpin
afwxkat24 May 2020
This is my favorite episode of the series. The series itself is very high-caliber and very well-done in terms of writing, character development, and animation, and this episode is no exception. This episode is also one that will definitely tug at your heartstrings.

Rebecca's Christmas wish is to have it snow in Cape Suzette, which has never happened before. Hearing this, Molly writes a letter to Santa, in which she asks him to make it snow in Cape Suzette. It's now up to Baloo, Kit, Wildcat, and Rebecca to do what they can to help fulfill Molly's wish and restore her faith in Santa, but their efforts become complicated when Don Karnage attempts to intercept the Sea Duck's "biggest and bestest Christmas present."

The episode has plenty of action and humor. which is pretty much a given any time you add Don Karnage and his henchmen into the mix. At the same time, though, we get to see how close Rebecca and Molly are, and even how close Baloo, Kit, and Wildcat have come to the two. After all, if they didn't care for Rebecca and especially Molly, why would they go to the lengths they did to keep her from becoming disappointed?

Libby Hinson, who has also written the episodes The Old Man and the Sea Duck (1990), Her Chance to Dream (1990), and Mommy for a Day (1990), seems to excel at writing stories that don't just have humor and action, but add just enough heart that may have you reaching for the tissues at the end or at least leaving the episode with a warm feeling. The warmth and heart of this episode make it more than appropriate for Christmas, and if you can watch it on Christmas Day that's even more of a bonus.

Festive 'Talespin'
TheLittleSongbird26 August 2018
'Talespin' has always been a show dear to my heart. One of those favourites from a young age that holds up really well, and is even more entertaining through adult eyes from appreciating the writing and stories even more.

Have been on a roll reviewing individual episodes for certain shows, animated, non-animated and of as many genres as possible (many as part of certain quests), and decided to do it with 'Talespin' and some others. Something that, as expected and hoped, has proven to be a more than worthwhile project and experience. "A Jolly Molly Christmas" is one of my favourite episodes of 'Talespin' and captures the spirit of Christmas with charm.

The animation is very colourful and atmospheric as always. The music matches what is going on perfectly and it is impossible to forget or resist the theme song, one of the catchiest for anything Disney and ever.

Writing is witty, very funny without being too silly and thought-probing without being complicated. Things don't get too childish and it is all easy to follow. The story is hugely compelling and lively in pace without being rushed.

Baloo is very likeable as a character that one roots for. Molly grew on me significantly with every episode she appeared in and her situation charming and relatable. Love her chemistry with Baloo which carries the episode beautifully. Wildcat is good fun, Kit is neither too cute or annoying and Rebecca's ambition is never overdone. Don Karnage is always a treat.

Voice acting is very good from particularly Ed Gilbert and Janna Michaels. Can never get enough of Jim Cummings' Don Karnage either.

All in all, a favourite. 10/10 Bethany Cox
