Tucker led with the story of the first day of the House impeachment public hearings. While the formal proceedings began on September 24, today's hearings were the first that were not being conducted in secret by Adam Schiff. But Tucker also stressed that this evening's show would cover other newsworthy topics because the impeachment circus is so questionable that it does not merit the wall-to-wall coverage given on other cable networks.

Clearly, the Democrats have no master plan and are making it up as they go along. Yet, today and for the first time, it became apparent what is the actual crime the Democrats believe President Trump committed, and that is simply Trump's campaign promise made in 2016 to try to get along with Russia!

For witness George Kent, the career diplomat with the bow tie, Trump's attempt to change foreign policy was evidently a crime, based on his testimony today. Kent spoke with gravitas as he asserted that Ukraine, Crimea, and Donbass are essential to our national interests. The little-known Donbass is an economic region in eastern Ukraine and southwestern Russia. In the unique circumstances of the election of a populist like Donald Trump, change in foreign policy is verboten.

For the second witness today, Ambassador William Taylor was only able to describe what he heard, with no first-hand contact with Trump. For attorney Gregg Jarrett, the caliber of witness testimony was "a chattering class of diplomats" and "slapstick and buffoonery" that would not be allowed in a court of law. Yet Taylor claimed with great confidence that "Ukraine is on our front line."

Thus, the impeachment hearings are based on policy issues, not "crimes and misdemeanors," as stipulated in the Constitution. The two star witnesses today offered nothing concrete other than that they disagree with the President.

Former State Department senior officer Christian Whiton joined Tucker to discuss the true nature of the current crop of foreign service officers. These careerists were never elected to their positions, yet seem to have no loyalty to the administration and feel it is their obligation to undermine the President. For Whiton, these were probably kids who sat by themselves at school recess!

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham appeared on the set to describe how President Trump did not miss a beat today in his scheduled meetings, including one with President Erdogan of Turkey. From the perspective of the administration, the impeachment hearings are going nowhere. For the Trump administration, the approach is primarily to ignore Adam Schiff and his antics.

Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R., Ohio) joined Tucker and described Schiff as a blatant liar, who, for three years, has retailed false information to the American public. This is an unscrupulous, partisan politician who should be serving as a witness sworn under oath to testify about his behind-the-scenes machinations. Were it not for the biased media that has enabled him, would Schiff even be the pest that he is today? For Rep. Wensrup, the entire impeachment process is going to help President Trump more than hurt him.

Tucker discussed today's media meltdown with radio host Larry O'Connor. Both Brian Williams and Chris Matthews are veteran journalists who really should model a greater moral compass in their current reporting. For O'Connor, today's media is all about theater, not news reporting. This is "an impeachment in search of a crime." And, it is all about "show" and "delivery," as opposed to substance. The most witty moment of the program was Tucker and Larry doing imitations of Kellyanne Conway's feckless husband appearing on a cable outlet in a relaxed state and leaning to the left like the Tower of Pisa.
