If you have been watching Brokenwood Mysteries from the beginning, I can't imagine that you would not find this to be an terrific episode.
We get to spend time with one of Mike Shepherd's ex-wives, Petra Conway, played believably by Lucy Wigmore.
Petra is an attractive woman who still holds something of a torch for Mike, even as she is about to go down the aisle with another, and beds still another--a celebrity author who ends up being the murder victim.
Petra shows up at Mike's home, for a late night visit, leading to one of the best lines of the episode.
Petra: You know, you could talk me out of this wedding. There's something between us.
Mike: (pause) It's called history.
The celebrity author is a Class-A jerk, racking up loads of motives for why someone might want to kill him. There are host of interesting suspects, and a well done dribbling out of clues and motives.
Along with all the usual clever dialog and bemused looks by the detectives, this is a really entertaining episode of Brokenwood Mysteries.
