An HR Meeting Convened in Hell
lavatch21 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Tucker Carlson's description of the ongoing impeachment hearings as "an HR meeting convened in hell" is actually a redundancy. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R., Florida) placed today's deliberations in context to demonstrate precisely why the hearings resemble both a facile HR exercise and why it is becoming a hellish nightmare for the American public.

Gaetz's analysis focused on how the House intelligence committee's work is an experience in groupthink because it has been enabled by the mainstream media. A number of clips from today's CNN and MSNBC broadcasts were not merely purveying propaganda, but telling a story that was the exact opposite of what was being given by the testimony of the Ambassador to the EU, Gordon David Sondland. Gaetz brilliantly identified how the heart of the testimony reveals disagreements in matters of policy, not "crimes and misdemeanors." And the principal disagreement dates back to 2016 when President Trump defeated Hillary Clinton.

In the hearing today, Sondland first read a statement that indicated there was a quid pro quo in the deliberations between the Trump administration and Ukraine. But under questioning from Rep. Jim Jordan, Sondland made an about-face. He testified the exact opposite, recalling a conversation in which President Trump explicitly said in response to his question "What do you want from Ukraine?" ANSWER FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP: "I want nothing; I want no quid pro quo. I just want Zelensky to do the right thing, what he ran on."

When pressed on his contradictory testimony, Sondland confessed that his early statement was only an opinion, a subjective "presumption." When Jordan asked him why he did not recall the conversation with the President in his 23-page statement, Sondland hemmed and hawed. It turns out that the four attorneys who drafted Sondland's statement for him were Democratic donors. Once again, the hearings expose the politicized nature of the sham hearings.

By the end of the day, we are back to square one, namely, inauguration day in January, 2017, when the Washington Post announced that the impeachment process would commence. The farce continues on CNN and MSNBC clamoring about "bombshells" and "blow torches" from Sondland's testimony. Yet, the words of Sondland were nothing more than a "presumption" and not borne out in any facts.

Former Acting Attorney General Matt Whittaker joined Tucker to comment on how the media has been distorting the truth about the hearings. Tucker closed by underscoring the faith-based nature of the hearings, a point that was echoed by Sean Davis of the Federalist, who described the current proceedings as "a passion play."
