Fresh, witty, worth a watch

Sharp witty writing, fresh concept, and great comic timing from the cast - particularly the actors playing felix (ostin) and violet (thorn). cinematography sometimes lets the side down - a few shots are too tight - but the sound is excellent. worth a watch.

I really like how quick everything happens, there's no time to doze off or get distracted. All of the episodes have lots of jokes and character backstory packed in. Because it is blink and you'll miss it, some things seem to come out of nowhere, but then when you go back and watch again the clues are there, it's like unwrapping a parcel. But I would like to see more time with Nana Belle the grandma, she is so funny and I think she needs to interact with more of the people living in Sober City. 8/10

Like Community and Fawlty Towers, in rehab.

Much more in here than can fit well in such short episodes.

Excellent: The conversations and the ideas are many and very fast, very entertaining. People in Sober City are funny and very different, like Community every character is very different. Unpredictable comedy premise for every conversation, like Fawlty Towers it is family and friends in one place who annoy each other, making funny situations.

Improvement Area: No time for walking between rooms, people jump from one room to next, this is a little confusing because it is same people, we ask how do they move to next room so fast. Maybe it is better to have extra conversations between rooms.

Yes I like this show, it would be better as long episodes and we can meet other people talked about, 3,4,5 minutes is too short and so I give only 6 stars.

Sitcom in an Uncanny World

Warning: Spoilers
Like a Russian Doll, this is a comedy nestled inside a tragedy. The eerily-lit environment never lets you forget that these characters are suffering and the laugh-out-loud banter is their escape. Funny and dark, and rounded off with a perfect final moment of the series. A thoughtful and bold offering from the filmmaker Blake Ostin, this is the darkest funny show that I've seen all year.

Needs more drama

This might be a Marmite show but we can probably agree its bold. The physical comedy and the characters are genuinely hilarious but SHOULD it be a comedy? Usually topics like this are found in bleak dramas with the number of an addiction helpline in the credits. Here we have recovering addicts getting into all sorts of comedy situations and barely talking about their addiction. Maybe that's the point to show people moving onto a better life but I would have loved more drama with this topic.
