Beautiful, meditative koan
ravensrayne15 December 2023
I saw this on the Criterion channel hoping it would be similar to a personal favorite of mine 'Spring, summer, fall, winter... and spring'. I was not disappointed at all. Just like the Kim Ki-duk' film this one is very heavily symbolic. Although there is even less of a plot here there is much that can be gleaned when in the right frame of mind. I especially appreciated the juxtaposition of eastern and western ideals and how it tries to bring them into harmony. What is a koan? It is a yeti. From a great distance we can almost see like God does, and it is beautiful. But we are here in the thick of it and liking has nothing to do with it... except when it does.
