This good little story gave me the same feeling that MIRACLE WORKER did several decades ago. The scheme is not exactly the same, I agree, but the overall atmosphere, settings and the characters symphony are so close to the Arthur Penn's masterpiece. It takes place in the countryside, in a cabin when a widower takes a new wife but also a new mother for his kids. The big question for him is : will this stepmother be accepted by his children ? Very efficient family drama, very well acted and directed too. Yes, folks, I could not prevent myself to think of MIRACLE WORKER, the intrusion of a woman into a family. But I again agree that the resemblance stops here. Directed by Erle CKenton, the Hollywood vet who gave us ISLAND OF LOST SOULS.
