Pretty good

Not as good as RE2 remake but still a really great game. And it's not quite a one to one re-creation more of a new game really but for what it is it's really good. Good graphics good gameplay and a pretty good story as well.

Good Game...But....(In depth)
diggerz0398 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Res 2 was an amazing remake. Because it was the first of the remakes on current consoles.

Res 3 remake was also a good looking game. I recommend buying it if youre a long time fan. I enjoyed it very much and they did put more efforts in to cut scenes on this one.

But i think with all the confirmations prior to its release, it has peeved off a lot of people.

The whole game is tiny. They have taken too many shortcuts on this. More than Res 2. After completing the game i felt like it was half heartedly made. Its been in production for 3 years so i do not get the excuse to cut out a bunch of stuff from the game. I.e. puzzles, there is one. Certain segments of the game are not in it. Quite important parts too. The fact that these REmakes are made to be able to do speed runs and encourage it frustrates me. Why is this a thing? Who cares how quick you can be...absolutely irrelevant. Just means the developers have purposely made the game to be short. Yes your first run through will be longish because youre nervous but after that, it can be done withing 2 hrs and thats not exactly rushing it.

I have been a Res fan since the beginning. But overall, i dont think there is any coming back from this. Yes its pretty to look at, but can you really say that this is a great Res Game? I cant.

In depth review - The positives outweigh the negatives
EasternZZ4 April 2020
Resident Evil is my favorite series of video games. I have played almost all of them except the Umbrella shooters and the ones that uses a light gun. They all vary in terms of quality, but there is not a Resident Evil (mainline) game that I would call downright bad and unplayable.

Resident Evil 3 Remake had a lot to live up to following the masterpiece Resident Evil 2 Remake. I feel that REmake3 is a good update to the original game but it does have some flaws that keep it from being a total masterpiece.

* FIRST off, don't let the other online reviewers lie to you, this game it NOT a BAD GAME. Whoever is saying this game is terrible is just trolling or looking to jump on the hate train (ahem, Steam forum users). The Critical Drinker's review was nothing but fan service and he was just trying way too hard to be funny and appeal to the masses, same thing with Angry Joe giving this game a low 6/10. Sure this game is only less than 5 hours, but not every games needs to be padded out to 100+ hours you unhealthy fools!

+ The graphics are even better than REmake2 and the environments in the first 1/3 look amazing. Getting a chance to explore the city while it is in ruins is awesome and eerie. Imagine the beginning of RE2 but a lot bigger.

+The voice acting and sound effects are great too. You can actually hear music now and it gets you pumped to blow some zombie brains out.

+Fun fast pace gameplay with lots of different guns to kill the undead with.

+A lot of different difficulties to choose from (more than 5, compared to RE2's 3 difficulty).

+Some fun stuff to unlock including special items, costumes, artwork, character models, and special weapons.

+A lot of challenges to complete.

-The first thing everybody will tell you is that this game is very short, I beat it in 4:45 my first time playing it.

-The Nemesis character is greatly disappointing and nowhere near as scary or intimidating as MR.X was in RE2. Nemesis is very scripted (even though Nemesis was also very scripted in the original too), and he only appears during certain times in the first 3rd of the game.

-Nemesis changes his form too quickly. In the original game Nemesis did not mutate until very late in the game, but in this game Nemesis mutates about 1/3 of the way and he becomes some sort of four legged beast monster.

-As of release, there are no extra modes after beating the game. Usually Resident Evil would give you a mini-game to play around with after beating it (Battle Mode, 4th Survivor Mode, or Mercenaries). You do get Resident Evil Resistance though, which is cool. They will probably release stuff down the line as DLC (hopefully free).

Overall this game is NOT THE BAD GAME some Steam reviewers are claiming it to be. It does not deserve a 53/100 from PC Gamer. This game is very fun and very fast pace. It feels like an action movie honestly. It is not scary and I only jump maybe once or twice when I wasn't expecting an enemy.

8/10 (maybe a 9/10 if Capcom releases DLC for it)

Really enjoyed the game
a-max_20083 April 2020
RE3 remake is well made, graphics are amazing, gameplay is uncanny and storyline is incredible. One down side for the game is that it's a short one. I enjoyed RE2 remake more just 'cause I got to play it more. Still, RE3 was remade nicely. 9/10.

Another incredible RE remake from Capcom!
steveo153210 April 2020
First of all I ADORED the Resident Evil 2 remake from last year. Stunning graphics, great character designs/voice acting and incredible gameplay all came together to form the perfect Resident Evil experience. It's a masterpiece, pure and simple. The likes of which the franchise hadn't seen since Resident Evil 4.

Now here's Capcom's from scratch remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Does it deliver? In my opinion it does and then some. Like RE2, the graphics are beautiful and the detail within the settings and characters are truly remarkable while gameplay once again is top notch. I'm honestly very surprised at how many people have complained about the tone and pace of this one. Is it faster and more chaotic? Yes. Is it more action driven? Without a doubt. But is it still a kick ass game with plenty of replay value? 100%. I get that the game isn't as long as most of us would have liked but judging from the game we did get I couldn't be more pleased with the results. If RE2 was the Resident Evil 4 of the modern remake then RE3 is hands down the Resident Evil 5 of the two(more action driven, chaotic etc) and I love it!

Good fun but not as good as resident evil 2 remake.

The game was a fun remake of resident evil 3. The game could have had more that would have made it better. Still I had a good time with it. The parts with Nemesis were the best.

A little bit of a step down.
parrot00710 April 2020
I really enjoyed the RE2 remake last year even as someone who has never been crazy about Resident Evil.

Just like that one, this game has outstanding atmosphere and graphics that sell it as an immersive horror action game. However, RE3 doesn't really bring anything new to the table besides a convienet dodge button. It's gameplay loop is very simple: explore and gather resources while choosing your battles wisley so you can advance to the next areas. If all that generally sounds like fun, it probably will be for you.

The big issue with this game is the length. Even with some dying and struggling, I beat the game just under 4 hours. This game doesn't have the replayability of RE2 with it's multiple character story modes. Yes it comes with a multiplayer mode, but Resistance is not something I see most people sticking with for very long.

As for the games story, fans will love it, but it's pretty basic in reality and rather predictable at times. There are also a couple of moments that I think don't work or make sense, especially one at the end.

It's a pretty good game overall, but for the next one, I expect more creativity and risk taking from the devs.

Incredibly disappointing after the FANTASTIC RE2 remake
Duelly29 June 2020
Lots of problems here. Poor level design, buggy, boring fights, a skippable story, and very little uniqueness.

The graphics and sound is stellar. 10/10 actually. However, thats it. I hope they do better with the RE4 remake.

Buy on sale.

A Sadly Disappointing Game
FunnyFruits5 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Like most people I am a massive resident evil fan (Except the movies!). I have been though and played most of the Resident Evil games and my ll time favourite was the original 1993 Resident Evil 3. This game was just a let down for me personality because I was so hyping about I was getting my favourite game on the PS1 remastered. Also after seeing the great work they did on RE1 / RE2.remastered I was really looking forward to this but that was short lived.

To start I thing get some good points out of the way. The Game was very pretty to look at and played very nice, The weapons were fun to use and they fixed the Power of the shotgun. The enemy designs were very good an "a lot" of the enemies got a cooler scarier look on them. I did like splitting between Jill and Carlos as it added more play time to the game.

Right to the bad points. As i mentioned about the enemies design some enemies were cool but... The Gamma Hunters looked terrible. Big headed creatures with little legs. Not sure if they mixed the Lurker and Gamma Hunter together by these enemies where just laughable to look at. I was also not to happy with the infected Nemesis zombies. I thought they were a weird addition to the game and a bit unessarcy.

Next is the length of the game. It may just be me but this game seemed very short. I also found the problem of not being able to back track a problem. In the first game out could explore the starting area for quite awhile (until you get on train). I feel the game moved to quickly and was rushed.

Next is the decision aspect. What i mean by this is in RE3 Original you had a choice to do an event a certain way. Example outside police station (RE3 Original) you had the choice to fight nemesis or run. If you fight you could get new item and also could get important items. It also meant you could play the game a different way and get new areas to go to. Also the lack of puzzles. RE3 original had some of the hardest puzzles yet the new one had very little. There was also no clower tower area or boss fight!!!

But the main problem with RE3 Remastered would come to the boss. Nemesis was just killed. I remember laying RE3 Nemesis as a kid and it was a scary. You would have Nemesis jumping though windows, blocking you down a narrow corridor and just appearing out of nowhere. You would hear the iconic "Stars" every time he was there. As it was a fixed camera angle it made it more scary which made it great as you couldn't see him only hear him. The new Nemesis was just bad I didn't get scared of him but found him more annoying and boring. The very limited chase scenes were lame and when he hits you you get ht 3 times without being able to move. There were 0 jumpscares for me with him or any enemies. No dog / reaper / crow jumpscares. (Saying that 0 Crows where they go?)

It gets worse the boss fights with him in where just so bland. Won't go into much detail but. 1st He got flamethrower and is slow a hell. Shoot the tank then shoot him done! 2nd shot him till he run around in a icle and climb building. Shoot him down and keeping shooting. This boss fight didn't feel like a boss fight at all. 3rd boss fight is the 2nd but now with electric things you need to shoot and dam zombie minions to distract you. The final boss is the worst, No timer / Blatant ares to shoot him and you have to do it once. Not too mention but where was giant worm boss?

Overall the main problem was I think it was rushed, short and a terrible boss. My score is quite low but I was so looking forward to this to be let down. Unlike RE1 and RE2 you can replay the game as a new character RE3 has you do it again as Jill but with no new decisions. Not too mention it cot £50. Capcom have made some of my favourite games shame this one I feel is one of the worst RE games.

Good game but it's short
Rayofsun715 November 2021
The gameplay and mechanics were really well done as well as the story and characters. However the game could easily be completed within a day. It took me 4 hours to go through it normally. I do like that it has a straightforward objective but it gets to it rather quickly but if you are looking to kill some time. Then this is definitely a game that people will like.

It does NOT deserve all this bashing
ahmedali-0218210 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT!

Is the game perfect ? No, it's not. Let's first get the negatives out of the way. -It's would've been better to get Brad, Marvin & Kendo to be more involved in the Story. -Nemesis was by far in my opinion the best designed Villain in the series, he should've had more Screen time/ Sequences.

With that being said, the game was absolutely fantastic. I LOVED Jill & Carlos, the writing was amazing, the characters were well designed. The environmental setting was exactly what a resident evil game needs. Now let's talk about the elephant in the room, the game being too short. It's not actually if you take your time without literally trying to beat it as fast as humanly possible "apart from going for the trophies of course" .. I took my time on Hardcore and beat it in 9 hours, which is actually pretty good for a non-RPG game. So putting aside the negatives mentioned, the game is amazing. Thanks devs!

Stellar
freedomhero11 November 2022
I was initially put off from playing this because of GameSpot's poor review. However, I am coming to trust GameSpot more and mare. They botched The Ascent's review as well...

With that said, RE3 remake is every bit as fun as the original from my memory. The replay value is great, especially with the shop and challenges. There's a lot of lore hidden. And the nice tie in to RE2 is done very well.

The game came be sped through quickly. However, if you slow down and appreciate all the intricate details, it plays like RE2 but with beefier weaponry.

The visuals are outstanding. Especially on PS5.

Play it.

A Crushing Disappointment
ImNotConz3 April 2020
Let me clarify, I think Resident Evil 2 (Remake) is the best Resident Evil game, overtaking Resident Evil 4 even. I loved that game so much and couldn't wait for this game. Bigger and better I thought. I was wrong. If anyone tells you this is the best resident evil game they are lying or don't know video games. Lets start with the good.

Gameplay, graphics, atmosphere is all fantastic. It has an enhanced experience from RE2, the nemesis himself is one of the scariest enemies of ever faced in a game, very challenging but very fair and rewarding at the same time. Now the bad.

I beat the main story in 3 hours and 20 minutes. let me repeat that 3 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES. For Comparisons sake, Leon's story took me 6 hours and Claire's took me 5 hours, and those were 2 separate campaigns in the same game. There's only 1 in RE3 and the worst part. There is absolutely nothing after the main story, not another campaign no mercenaries or ghost survivor like the last game there is quite literally no replayability. It doesn't help that the game is really easy at the halfway point. Jill's 3nd weapon is literally a grenade launcher that evaporates pretty much every enemy in the game, and Carlo's has an assault rifle in all his segments, meaning taking care of ordinary zombies is a legit walk in the park, losing its survival horror feeling.

Despite those negatives 3 hours of gameplay was absolutely fantastic. If it was even 2 hours longer I'd recommend it but as it stands you'll be spending full price for a 3-4 hour experience. If you love Resident Evil, wait for it to go on sale. With its lack of content its not worth full price.

Let me clarify another thing. Nobody and I mean nobody should be spending full price for such a short experience. As much as I hate to say it, don't buy it. wait for a sale or don't buy it at all.

Waste opportunity
dimitriszervas6 April 2020
Pros:better graphics Downgrades :poor animations in the zombies without physics, scripted nemesis, without gore(that means you can't dismember zombies but only explode the head like 4 and 5 which was 10 year ago), the absent some of the most iconic areas of Re3 like clock tower and without dlc like mercenaries e.t.c. Thus, the conclusion is a average game (more like bad clone of Re2 with some new mechanics) with nothing to gain from it. At least for me.

Awesome, great remake of one of the best games in the trilogy, and fast paced.
cruise0116 April 2020
(5 out of 5 stars).

Resident Evil 3 is a fresh and awesome remake to the original game RE 3 Nemesis. I am a huge fan of the series. And I think this game lived up to the original and it's previous remake of re 2. Where to start. There are some differences between the remake and original. But nothing disappointing. The remake is fast paced. It puts Jill Valentine right into action. The T virus outbreak is breaking loose into the city. Umbrella lets loose the nemesis. Which puts Jill in a while chase in the beginning. The nemesis design is awesome looking as he evolves throughout the game and the looks changes every time he runs into Jill. I do feel like the original game was still scarier with Nemesis chasing Jill room to room. The remake he does the same which is more intense than scary. Cause he runs faster.

The plot is great in the game. Jill is trying to escape the apocalyptic city of zombies. Monsters. And nemesis. With the help from Carlos and his team. The plot is fast paced. It never slows down.

The events in the remake is similar to original. There are less boring puzzles. The setting of raccoon city is amazing looking. The game also plays a brief visit at the police station. The clock tower is briefly in the game but the conflict with Jill and Nemesis is in there. The remake did cut out the graveyard setting and substituted the climatic factory setting with an underground Umbrella laboratory which was great. The climax lives up to the original with Jill and Nemesis.

The game play is a lot of fun and awesome. There are some intense moments. With facing a horde of zombies. Or hunters. Or a big gamma monster. The remake also is missing out on the grave digger worm. The game play is more flexible with controlling the character. I love how the game play is which gives you more freedom like avoiding the zombies from grabbing you by dodging. It was the one thing that was missing in the last game.

I loved how the remake brought back some of the music score from the original in this game which was awesome. It was also what was missing in the last game. The graphics are awesome. The design on Jill. Carlos. The settings. And nemesis is impressive. The controls are great and easy to handle.

The game is fast moving and fast paced. I did completed the game around 5 hours. I was never bored at any moment in the game. Either from running and battling through nemesis or walking through eerie hallways with zombies. Capcom is doing great in these remakes. The second game was fun. I loved resident evil 3 more and think it's one of the best games in the series. I really wish capcom can try to remake resident evil code Veronica game which would be fun to see. If they do remake re 4. Maybe they can make it different from the original which I did not care for re 4 through 6 which the tone changed into an action packed game.

Overall, Resident Evil 3 is awesome. It is a beautifully done remake that lived up to the original. It's fast paced. The graphics and game play is fun and exciting. It does have some intense moments. The plot. The gameplay is worth playing through it again. And I can't wait to see where capcom does next with resident evil.

RE2.5 Remake
JayDeeezy21 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
RE2 remake was stunning and RE3 follows in the same vein in terms of graphics, gameplay, and voice-acting. It all looks and plays beautifully. However, the game is too short! The problem is...the original was the same way!

From my understanding, lead Capcom developers really considered Code Veronica to be RE3 and only pushed out Nemesis on PS1 to meet a contract quota. As such, it's not a passion project and it showed back then as it does now unfortunately. In the original, yes they introduced Nemesis and a dodging mechanic but it was ultimately not a vastly different game from RE2 - it felt more of a 2.5, especially story-wise.

This remake was really a missed opportunity to make it into something more - maybe by developing the story to something a bit more relevant, further developing Jill's character, or adding SOMETHING new.

My other big problem is Nemesis himself. He is way too easy to beat and is frankly not as menacing as Mr. X...which should not be the case. If he's the titular bad guy, he should really be someone that gives you a run for your money and he just...doesn't. You get to see a bunch of monster costume changes but ultimately once you learn his patterns, you're all set.

Overall: fun game but falls back into the same place as it did in 1999 - an RE2 afterthought.

A missed opportunity.
nickcarriker-255284 October 2020
"Resident Evil 3" feels like a very rushed game. The graphics are worse than the two previous games, dialogue feels choppy, and the story is close to nothing. It's, sadly, just as silly and ridiculous as you'd expect. And now I'm just hoping that the remake of "Resident Evil 4" is gonna be better than this one.

Brilliant game
darth-9463012 July 2020
Had a blast playing through the game. The graphics looked amazing, voice acting was spot on, gameplay was SO enjoyable, controls were comfortable, loved the characters, (and hated the ones you were meant to hate). This Jill is the best version of her, for me. Nemesis himself was brilliant, but wanted a bit more of him chasing me. Game definitely could have been longer. Other than that, I'm in love with this game. Why all the hate?!

Good, but the game could have been better
rafael-augusto3422 May 2020
Ok, Resident Evil 3 is pretty good, but it is too short, unfortunately. I've missed more puzzles, more horror, more action... I haven't played the original game, but I've already seen some videos on Youtube and the remake is very different. Lots of important scenarios, bosses and enemies were removed. Besides, the original game was more detailed, such as Dario's story, and had more puzzles, like Clock Tower's part. I really hope Capcom will add some DLC to make the game longer and more enjoyable.

What. A. Blast! STAAARS!
ScreenTalk22 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely LOVED the RE2 remake. It is the first game I finished 4 times! And this new remake of RE3 adds to that beautifully.

RE3 might not be as open or non-linear as the previous REmake, but that is all on the cost of a bombastic story with incredible scripted events. This game feels a lot more streamlined and intense.

That being said, yes it is shorter and has less replay value (though unlocking upgrades is a very fun new addition), I feel like this game exceeds RE2 because it is just such a blast to play.

I just started playing RE1 and cannot wait to replay this game after I finished that and RE2 for the fifth time!
