The premiere episode continues Black Summer's hand-held cinematography with sequences edited together to look like one take. Therefor if you didn't like the shaky cam in the first season well you're SOL for the second season. That's not to say every sequence is like this and I think it will all come down to preference. I personally do not mind it.

The episode itself has a few sequences that are better than others. The standout for me was with Jamie King and her intense performance during a stand-off with someone she does not trust, for good reason.

Other segments still have characters making odd decisions while other segments have characters act more believable.

If you enjoyed the first season then you will enjoy the second.

This is why I love this series. It gives you that feeling that you are actually part of the show. You can just feel the atmosphere as you are watching it!

Reviewing episodes of a post-apocalyptic show is tricky, especially if it's without spoilers and (ultra) analyzing characters' decisions.

Neutrally speaking, I found it (+) satisfying with less gory action scenes than I expected, especially the (mild) scenes in the snow which didn't belong to the "hemoglobin enjoyable" close-up fights and instead an utter melee of frightened, bewildered and decisive people struggling in a super confused environment.

I don't mind the story and plots to be told in whole reverse, forward or a combination of the two. The reverse trick was good and added to the Loco atmosphere.

So far, what it needs is more bloody action, more gut-wrenching scenes and more stupid decisions leading to creation of more zombies. The VFX is very good, add to it some brains, flesh and bowels in fast-forward motion, splashing all around and into their noses and mouths.

Black summer is LOCO. Make us feel that "ice-cold" hellish fire for real, eyes glued to the screen and breathing hard.

6.4/10 is an absolute crime that it not accurate.

Black summer is an amazing show which I enjoy so much been looking forward to this for ages and it does not disappoint.

I love unique form of story telling where it'll show you something out of sync then track back and slowly fill in the blanks it's excellent and the POV tracking of different characters perspective is really well done I honestly liked every think that happened... really shocking opening 5 mins too my jaw was ok the floor.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Black Summer's first season, but I have to give credit where credit is due. "The Cold" was a good, intense and creative episode in many ways. While this show lacks depth in terms of proper character development, it's still very much entertaining, and it left me wanting more. Really enjoyed the anthology style of this episode, and the opening scene was very well executed.

Season 2 has catched my interest so far, I'll definitely stick around for the rest of the season. Final rating: 8.7/10.

Reminds me of the walking dead when they had the all out war and nobody was hitting anybody with bullets. Like come on that ambush scene is so bad literally 2 metres away and like 2 people died terrible writing.

This is my first review on IMDB. I had to do that to balance the bad rating : 6.5 don't give justice to this show, and i mean this second season in his totality. But this first episode, man, was something you'd never seen before in a zombie show.

I don"t mean about the plot, or the character development. Some people are complaining about plot and characters, but those aren't what the show is made. It's made to make you see what dark reality the world is, with camera-perfect plans - and, again, i mean it.

This first episode will show you.sequence shot of zombie pursuit you'd never seen before in any zombie movie. There's a ton of them, and this show is undeniably different because of the directing of each episode. Long shots that mark deep tension between characters. Camera behind characters for a few minutes until an explanation is given. It's brilliant.

Season one had flaws, but man, this episode, and the rest. It was quite a ride.

Shaky camera!!! Why? Why? Its terrible. I can't stand fuzzy, out of focus and shaky camera film making. It makes no sense. It makes me not want to watch it.

Weaving as it does between character viewpoints this series is at in once claustrophobic, frightening, and bewildering in its action and story. Well done, and keeps your interest. Don't get too attached to any one character.

How come when many many people get shot in this episode, they don't quickly turn into zombies like in previous episodes??

Holy crap that opening was some of the best stuff i seen filmed in a long time it was so intense and was sick how they filmed it all in one shot.

I loved the first season, but the second is hard to follow. It doesn't seem to have a plot. Just a bunch of people running around killing each other.

S2E1 Story direction, how they shot the movie, the top notch acting, keeping it suspenseful all the way throughout, and the story line all melt together in this non-stop suspense that makes you think and be engaged till the end. Masterpiece.

If you like watching the second half of a scene first then the first half second then this is an episode you'd love. But if you prefer to have some understanding of what's going on then like myself you'll be frustrated.

It's drama ridden and entertaining to a degree.

There doesn't seem to be any story line to follow yet, just a series of happenings.

Of course everything is predictable but that's what you'd expect so far.

I just hope they don't continue the trend of scene reversing or the long and slow dialogue moments.

Just stupid that shot would have went straight through the guys neck and killed the Asian girl in the passenger seat. Then he crashes the car like a dunce finds another car steals that and instead of just slamming on his brakes to get the zombie off the roof he decides to crash head on into a cop car???!what was the ambush all about their like 3 feet apart and all bunched up and no-one gets hit because they seem to not want to fight while some girl is farting about with a revolver. Why won't they give the guy water their surrounded by snow for christ sake theres no shortage of water and were supposed to believe they are all survivops stick to youtube shorts this is a joke.

So they are in the freezing cold but you can't see their breath and they get into a huge farmhouse but the ice still hangs off their hair and beards. A man climbs a tree to escape a zombie and when he gets down out of that tree he picks up 3 pieces of chopped wood that he was sent out to retrieve. James King lets him back in just in time to escape the rampage of the tree zombie. The house is immaculate and is wall to wall wood . Tables , chairs , sofas, sideboards and wood trimmed walls and doorways. The tree guy brought in 3 pieces of wood? Do Better . This is terrible.

This episode tries to pretend it's clever by showing the scenes ordered incoherently.

This is what folks do when they don't actually have an interesting story to tell or don't trust the strength of their story.

Stupid. Confusing. Could have been worth watching.

Gimmicks are for 1st year film students. Not for professionals.

Unfortunately, some 0-year film students reviewed this episode and thought gratuitous incoherence made this episode great.

The 2nd episode appears to continue (if that's an accurate word in this case) in the same vein.

This show does have some very good parts, but this is definitely not one of them. In the snowy forest shootout in this episode, it is literally just two confused groups of people standing still about 15 feet apart, shooting at each other, missing, waiting 5 seconds, and then shooting and missing again. It is honestly difficult to even keep track of what the groups of people are and what is supposed to be happening. It introduces a lot of new characters, and some of it is explained later in the season, but you are still left with a lot of questions that recur throughout the season:

"Who are these people?" "Who are these other group of people?" "Why are they shooting each other?" "What is anyone's motivation for anything?"

My takeaway is that in this show's world, strangers basically shoot each other on sight at all times for no reason, and no one cooperates with anyone else except generic gang members shooting other generic gang members.
